These teams are separated by one game in the first and second Wild Card spots, so this game is important.
The Islanders' offense got the boost they needed when they added Bo Harvat to the forward unit. He's been a great addition with five goals and three assists in 15 games.
Defense and goaltending are their specialties, with Ilya Sorokin or Semyon Varlamov allowing the fifth fewest goals and the second-best save percentage this year. They must play physically upfront to stop a finesse offense like Pittsburgh.
The Penguins are coming off a history-making win. Being down 4-0 against Columbus, they came away with a 5-4 overtime win and their largest comeback in team history.
The offense is capable of those feats, being tenth in expected goals, but they must be with how much the defense struggles. Tristan Jarry has struggled since his return from Injured Reserve and the last game against Columbus was the second time he'd been pulled recently.
The Islanders have been playing much better offensively and will get through that Pittsburgh blue line and defensively hold up to get an important win.
