Knicks vs. Celtics

The Celtics have already suffered three gut-wrenching losses in this series and took an even worse loss during Game 4. It's difficult to have any momentum going into an elimination game when you've held double-digit leads in every matchup. Now they have to go on without their leader for the rest of the playoffs, as Jayson Tatum's torn Achilles ends his season.

The good news for the Celtics is that they are 8-2 this season without him in the lineup, but they haven't been able to hold leads with him in this series. Boston has established that they will live or die by the three, and although they are only shooting 33.5% from behind the arc, they continue to take at least 40 attempts in each game. Without Tatum, they are going to look at Jaylen Brown to be their primary scorer.

These games have become a battle of attrition, as the Celtics seem to dwindle as the game progresses, while the Knicks improve. In the three New York wins, they have shot 50% or better in the fourth quarter in two, while Boston has shot 20% or worse in two. The Knicks have been getting points in the paint and from the perimeter as the Celtics lag on defense. This game could go either way, but we’ve seen the Celtics start well; it’s just a matter of whether they can finish it.
