La Liga Betting: Weekly Odds & Game Picks: Week 19 (2021)

With Christmas just a few days away, much of the professional European soccer ranks are on holiday until after the New Year. In La, La Liga, however, there are two matches today, one of which I’ve had circled for months now.

Let’s take a closer look at what should be one of the better matches in recent memory.

Athletic Bilbao vs. Real Madrid,  3:30 PM, EST

Since the departure of Lionel Messi has led to the fall of Barcelona this season, there’s now one team sitting alone at the top; Real Madrid. Through the first 18 games of the season, Real Madrid sits atop the table with 43 points and a staggering +24 goal differential. For context, those two numbers sit 6 and 8, respectively, ahead of their next closest competitor (Sevilla).

Coming into this one, they’ve picked up points (won five) in six straight games and haven’t conceded a goal since November 28th vs. Sevilla.

Their opponent in this one, Athletic Bilbao, has seen mostly a mixed bag this season as they sit directly in the middle of the table with just 25 points. Having lost two of their last four, goals have been an issue as they’ve scored just three during that span.

With a 10-day break following today, look for Real Madrid to roll in this one as they head into the holiday with yet another W.

Pick: Real Madrid +130
