Espanyol vs. Barcelona, 12:30 PM, EST
After losing Messi in the offseason and then their manager at the start of this season, Barcelona suffered a brutal stretch through the fall that had them reeling down the table. However, following a December 4th loss against Betis, Barcelona has ripped off seven straight games picking up at least one point and comes into this one winning three of their last four.
The last time we saw them on the pitch, Barcelona knocked off Atletico Madrid 4-2 to move into the coveted 4th spot on the table and in position to qualify for Champions League should they hang on to it.
Espanyol finds itself heading in the opposite direction on the other side of this contest. In their four games to start 2022, Espanyol has lost three and tied one, with a goal differential of -5 over that stretch. I expect both trends to continue and Barcelona to continue their ascent of the table with the #3 position just two points away.
