Levante vs. Real Sociedad, 3:00 PM, EST
Currently sitting just 2 points behind Real Betis for the UEFA Cup spot and 5 points behind Atletico Madrid for the final Champions League spot; it’s now or never for Real Sociedad. Accruing a record of 2-2-1 over their past five, Sociedad has a goal differential of +4 during that span, only losing to Barcelona in a hard-fought 1-0 loss on April 21st.
With a game against Atletico earmarked for the season’s final match, Sociedad has two-straight winnable games starting with this one and then next week at home vs. Cadiz. Averaging .6 goals per game this season, Sociedad’s Mikel Oiarzabal leads all scorers and will need four more strong performances if this team wants to sneak into the Champions League.
They’ve landed the right opponent to get their final four games started on the right foot, as Levante comes into this match dead last in La Liga with just 26 points. Currently sitting with a league-worst record of 5-11-18, Levante trails only Alaves in goal differential (-24) on the season. Having won just two games since the start of March, their inability to keep the ball out of their own net continues to plague them.
