La Liga Betting: Weekly Odds & Game Picks: Week 5 (2021)
Another week another cash as Atletico Madrid gets us to the winning column last week with their 2-1 win over Espanyol. As the season drags on in its first without Messi in La Liga, plenty of value has presented itself week to week.
Let’s look at one such match this week I have my eye on.

Valencia vs. Real Madrid, 12:30 PM EST
Through just four games of the 2021 La Liga season, Real Madrid finds themselves where they usually do; at the top. With a goal differential of +7, the very top. In the four games they’ve played thus far, two were decided by three goals, with their only non-win coming in a 3-3 draw vs. Levante back on August 22nd.
Led by all-world striker Karim Benzema and his five goals, Vinicius Junior has added another four for what is once again the best scoring duo in all of La Liga.
For the home squad Valencia, a mediocre 2020 has been followed up by a torrid pace to start 2020, as they also sit at 3-1-0, 10 points, and a goal differential of +7 to start the season. Unlike Madrid, however, they’ve gotten a more balanced effort with four players sitting with three goals each; Soler, Guedes, Vallejo, and Alderete.
While the records and points are the same, a deeper dive shows just how much more dominant Real Madrid has been. Holding in advantages in possession at 56% (vs. 47%), shots on goal per game at 5 (vs. 3.8), and completed passes at 88% (vs. 70%), Madrid has been stellar in all aspects of their game from top to bottom.
Additionally, Real Madrid comes into this one the deeper team, and I like for their starting talent to only be replaced late by a string of reserves that would find themselves starters on most La Liga teams.
