La Liga Odds, Picks & Predictions for Matchday 6 (2022)
The 2022–23 La Liga season enters week six with 33 weeks remaining in Spain’s top professional league. As several teams compete below them, Barcelona and Real Madrid are seemingly already locked in a two-team contest for the top spot. Let’s examine a few of the week six matchups I’m focused on in more detail to determine where the value still exists.

Saturday
Athletic Bilbao vs. Rayo Vallecano
Sitting just outside potential postseason play in the sixth spot on the table, Athletic Bilbao comes into the week following their biggest win of the season; a 4-1 defeat of Elche. With all four goals scored in the first half, including one by leading scorer Alex Berenguer, Bilbao was able to rest their starters for much of the second half.
As for Vallecano, they also secured a win last week, beating Valencia 2-1 to pull back to .500 on the season, despite losing the possession and shots battle. It’s also worth noting they needed a 90′ goal from Mouctar Diakhaby to secure the win.
In this one, I like for Berenguer to find the back of the net once again against a dicey Vallecano back line, and for Bilbao to pick up the win with the more rested starting legs.
Pick: Athletic Bilbao (-190)
Osasuna vs. Getafe
Taking advantage of a Real Sociedad team that had just played Manchester United three days prior, Getafe picked up their first win of the season last week in a 2-1 win at home. Up to that point, things had been ugly for Getafe, who, even with the win, currently sits #17 on the table with a goal differential of -8.
As for Osasuna, a strong start to the season has been a welcomed surprise, as they currently sit #4 on the table with 12 points through five games. With their only loss thus far coming to #3 on the table Real Betis, I think Osasuna is the real deal, and they easily handle business here against an overconfident Getafe team.
Pick: Osasuna (-125)
Sunday
Real Sociedad vs. Espanyol
Speaking of that Real Sociedad team, they’ll be looking to get back on track this week following one of their worst losses in recent memory vs. Getafe; and I think we see them get there. As mentioned, they had only 72 hours prior played a scrappy (and winning) game against Manchester United and will come into this one now fully rested.
With just one win on the season, look for Espanyol to struggle again in this spot on the road.
