Lightning vs. Rangers Game 5: Top NHL Playoffs Prop Bet Odds & Picks for Thursday, June 9 (2022)

Game 5 is set to get underway in the Eastern Conference Final of the 2022 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs as the New York Rangers host the Tampa Bay Lightning. Despite only one game today, there are still a couple of great angles to attack in the prop betting market.

Below, I give out my two best NHL player prop bets for Tuesday.

As a reminder, I am playing all player props for a half-unit each during the playoffs, or 0.5% of your betting bankroll. Follow me on Twitter to get all of my plays on days without full write-ups.

Nikita Kucherov Anytime Goalscorer (+165)

The Tampa Bay Lightning look to take a 3-2 series lead following Tuesday’s 4-1 victory at home. After successfully hitting this prop in Game 4, I am going back to the well once again.

Not only did Nikita Kucherov score in that game, but he has registered a goal in each of his last three outings. Kucherov should be a good candidate to back once again as he has been the go-to guy in this offense in this series, especially in the absence of Brayden Point.

While betting on anyone to score against Shesterkin is always a tricky task, this number is over-adjusted due to that fact. There is no denying the greatness of Igor Shesterkin and what he has done during this playoff run, but he has still allowed two or more goals in each game of this series.

While that is not a bad number by any means, it shows us that it is possible to score on him, and there is no better guy to back on Tampa Bay to be the one to do it than Kucherov.

Nikita Kucherov Over 3.5 Shots on Goal (+130)

I am backing the Lightning superstar in another prop category as well, this time with shots on goal. Nikita Kucherov has gone over this total in two straight and in five of his last seven games (71 percent).

I expect this trend to continue as the Lightning will continue to force-feed Kucherov while he has the hot hand in this series. Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin continues to bail out the Rangers as the defense in front of him has allowed Tampa Bay to shoot at will.

Over the first four games of this series, the Lightning are averaging 38 shots on goal per game. This trend should not be surprising as the Rangers rank 13th out of the 16 playoff teams this postseason in shots on goal against per 60 minutes.

Best of luck!
