The Raiders emerged with the 31-24 victory of the Lions in their first true home game since September 15. With that performance, the Raiders have now covered four of their last five games while hitting the over in five of their last six. Rookie running back Josh Jacobs has been a key performer lately, amassing 120+ rushing yards in three of his last four. The Raiders will look to get him going against a Chargers’ defense that was recently run over by the likes of James Conner, Derrick Henry, and David Montgomery.

As for the Chargers, they find themselves with some momentum after notching upset victories over the Bears and Packers in recent weeks. Prior to that, the Chargers had only covered in one of their first seven games to begin the season. The defense has been particularly impressive, holding Aaron Rodgers to just 161 yards passing last week.

Overview

So what’s going to give in this divisional matchup? The Chargers have looked much better lately, but the Raiders always make a strong case at home. Citing historical trends, the Chargers are just 2-8 ATS over their last 10 games after allowing less than 250 yards in the previous contest. The public and oddsmakers could be giving the Chargers too much credit after frustrating an MVP candidate last week, and those expecting a carryover could be disappointed.

Trends

  • The Chargers are 4-0 ATS in their last four Thursday games.
  • The Chargers are 8-1 ATS in their last nine November games.
  • The Raiders are 6-1 ATS in their last seven home games.
  • The under is 7-1 in the last eight Chargers’ games.
  • The under is 6-1-1 in the Raiders’ last eight vs. AFC.

Prop Bets

Anytime Touchdown Scorer: Josh Jacobs (-110)
Jacobs is the do-it-all running back for the Raiders, and he’s poised to see plenty of volume (and goal-line carries) against a vulnerable Chargers’ run defense. As mentioned earlier, David Montgomery (27-135-1), Derrick Henry (22-90-1), and James Conner (119 total yards, 2 TD) were all able to have success against the Chargers recently. Jacobs will find himself on that list after Thursday, and he’s a good bet to land in the end-zone too.

Bottom Line

As hinted earlier, I believe the Chargers are getting too much credit after a redeeming victory last week. The Raiders have been an ATM at home (see trends) lately, and I believe they are the best side in this tight spread … Also, two divisional teams playing on shortened rest certainly lends itself favorably to the under.
