Manny Pacquiao vs. DK Yoo: Boxing Preview, Odds, Picks & Prediction (2022)

This weekend, Manny Pacquiao will compete in his first exhibition match against DK Yoo. Going the way of many great boxers of his day, the once high-esteemed boxing legend will now take on a YouTuber, in what will be considered an amateur fight.

On Saturday in South Korea, at the Seoul Arena, Pacquiao will square off against DK Yoo around 6 p.m. EST, headlining a strong undercard featuring a wealth of local talent that will precede the main event. Fite TV, a streaming service for combat sports, is the only place where viewers can see the event live, with the event costing $29.99. Fans can buy it directly from Fite TV’s website, and after doing so, they’ll be able to stream the event on their computer, television and mobile device using the Fite TV app.

Let’s take a closer look at both fighters, and where the action is headed as fight night approaches in South Korea.

Manny Pacquiao (62-8-2, 39 KOs) vs. DK Yoo (0-0-0, 0 KOs)

Since losing to Yordenis Ugas for the WBA welterweight title last year, Pacquiao hasn’t competed professionally, and many expect he never will again. Following the defeat, the Filipino celebrity retired in order to concentrate on his unsuccessful presidential candidacy, his likely future political aspirations that are still likely on the table and a semi-professional basketball career.

He will now follow in the footsteps of his longtime foe Floyd Mayweather by facing DK Yoo, a martial artist with experience, in the social media arena. As for Yoo’s pedigrees, he currently is a full-time YouTuber who focuses on self-defense videos. At the time of writing, his subscription base is well over 600,000, and a solid performance on Saturday night will surely boost those numbers even higher.

The boxing legend’s victory might pave the way for a number of high-profile occasions in 2023, including a potential rematch with Mayweather in the exhibition ranks.

Bottom Line

While anything can happen in these exhibitions, surely Pacquiao is not going to put his legendary reputation on the line with a lackluster performance. Like we have seen with Mayweather Jr., my guess is he toys with his opponent in the first few rounds, before putting it on him late to assure victory.

If the market were to come available, Pacquiao by decision is probably the best bang for your buck in this matchup.

Pick: Manny Pacquiao (-900)
