Masters 2022: Brooks Koepka Betting Odds, Preview & Prediction

It might not feel like spring in some parts of the country, but the azaleas are in full bloom at Augusta National, home of The Masters, the most iconic tournament in golf.

In just a few days, we’ll see Amen Corner, Rae’s Creek, the Sarazen Bridge, and Augusta’s other famous features while watching golf’s biggest stars navigate challenging approach shots and treacherous greens. As if the golf isn’t entertaining enough, The Masters presents us with a betting menu the size of a Cheesecake Factory menu.

Welcome to the first annual BettingPros Guide to The Masters. We will drill down on the myriad wagering opportunities this tournament presents to us. We’ll look at the golfers with the best chances of earning a coveted Green Jacket. We’ll examine which bets look like sucker plays and which bets provide better value than a $1.50 pimento cheese sandwich at an Augusta concessions tent.

Should you back a top player like Jon Rahm, Rory McIlroy, or Collin Morikawa? Is it better to play a hot hand with Scottie Scheffler, Cameron Smith, or Sam Burns? Or would it be best to ride with an Augusta specialist like Jordan Spieth, Patrick Reed, or Justin Rose?

We have some thoughts. Read on, friends.

Brooks Koepka Course History

Koepka is seemingly always in the hunt at majors, and The Masters have been no different for him. Before last year’s missed cut, the 31-year-old had finished no worse than T33, with two top 10s under his belt (2019 and 2020), including a T2 in 2019, the year Tiger got back his jacket.

Koepka also led the field by two strokes in 2019, shooting an opening-round 66 before a 71 on Friday became too much to overcome on the weekend. Before last season’s missed cut, 50% of Koepka’s rounds over the 2019 and 2020 Masters were scored at 69 or below.

Brooks Koepka Recent Form

Just like last season, 2021-22 has been a mixed bag for the four-time major winner. In 13 events, he’s made just eight cuts, as his ball-striking seems to come and go.

However, looking back over his last five events, Koepka appears to be trending in the right direction. Koepka has three top 20s, including a T5 last week at the WGC-Dell Match Play event in Austin, Texas, outside of missed cuts at the Genesis and Players.

While he’s not doing anything spectacular heading into this week, he is still fifth on Tour in driving distance (303.9) and is a proven winner in golf’s biggest events.

Brooks Koepka Masters Predictions

The Pick: Brooks Koepka R1 Leader

Hampered by injuries throughout the 2020-21 season, Koepka comes into this week as healthy as he has been since before the pandemic. That’s a scary thought for his competition.

The definition of a guy who seemingly only really gets up for majors, Koepka has recorded a staggering 50% of his career PGA Tour wins at majors. With only the Masters and British Open still eluding him, I expect a focused Koepka this week and for him to come out firing from the first tee box on Sunday.

While his lack of big-moment Sunday play as of late might come back to bite him over the weekend, I like a strong start for Koepka. Don’t be surprised to find him at the top of the leaderboard after Thursday, with 2019’s opening round repeating itself.
