Tiger Woods Course History
Tiger Woods excited die-hard and casual fans alike with the news of him returning to compete at the 2022 Masters. The 46-year old superstar has not competed in any PGA Tour events since drawing a T38 finish at Augusta in November 2020. But, of course, he’s had a ton of success, earning his first win at Augusta National in 1997 and racking up three more in 2001, 2002, and 2005. Woods then returned in 2019 during arguably the most memorable Masters of all time, where he went 13-under-par and won the first major of his career where he didn’t have the lead after the first three rounds. However, an implosion from Francesco Molinari during the final round allowed Woods to creep back up the leaderboards and eventually sink the winning putt to earn his fifth Green Jacket in a dramatic fashion.

Tiger Woods Recent Form
Woods has not competed in any PGA Tour event in nearly 18 months, with his last appearance appropriately occurring at the 2020 Masters. He’s dealt with even more off-the-field issues in his personal life since his last appearance at Augusta National, so it’s highly encouraging to see that Woods is healthy enough to compete. Perhaps the lack of recent wear and tear on his back and knees, which have warranted multiple surgeries throughout Woods’ career, could feel fresh and confident when he steps onto the fairway at Augusta on Thursday. He’s been playing as a professional for nearly three decades, so I expect the rust to be quickly shaken off and the iconic player’s muscle memory to take over.

Betting on Tiger Woods to win his sixth Green Jacket at Augusta is not a bad wager to place. Yes, he’s now 46 years old, but he’s been training and preparing solely for golf’s most prestigious event. He’s comfortable and hardly ever falls outside of the top 40, even in his 40s! Woods possesses a strong driver and putting game, so it will boil down to his irons and ability to convert greens in regulation.
We all witnessed Woods’s miraculous feat at Augusta in 2019. No one expected the veteran to overcome the odds, especially during the first couple of rounds. Don’t let this happen again. Woods always had his body betray him, but he’s been rehabbing and training for The Masters, which means he should be physically fresh and prepared. A healthy Tiger Woods is a scary sight for the rest of the field at Augusta. If he gets off to a strong start, the mental adversity will begin to set in, and the crowd will gravitate towards Tiger, making it increasingly difficult for other players to ignore his momentum.
