Viktor Hovland Course History
While his play over the past two years makes it hard to believe, Hovland enters this year’s Masters still just 24 years of age. Accordingly, Hovland has just two appearances here at Augusta though both have been formidable.
In just his second appearance here last year, Hovland finished T21 with a final-round +1 to bring him to Even on the week. Of his eight total rounds played here at Augusta, it was just his second round above par. Hovland has an aggregate score of -3 over two years’ worth of events.

Viktor Hovland’s Recent Form
With just three official wins on the PGA Tour, two have come this season in what has been Hovland’s best yet since turning professional in 2018-19. In his 11 events played thus far, Hovland has seven top 20s, five top 10s, and two outright wins (Mayakoba and Hero World Challenge).
Before a T18 finish at the WGC-Dell Match Play event in Austin, Hovland had a four-event run where he finished T4 (Genesis), T2 (Arnold Palmer), and T9 (PLAYERS), all amongst some of the most elite fields of the season. And his metrics as of late back those results in spades.
Coming into this week, Hovland ranks #11 on Tour in SG: Off-the-Tee, #3 in SG: Approach, and #4 in Birdie Average. Reaching as high as #4 in the Official World Golf Rankings, Hovland is playing some of the best golf on Tour, heading into the season’s first major.

The Pick: Viktor Hovland to Win (+2000 at Caesars Sportsbook)
Making his major debut in 2019, Hovland finished T32 here at Augusta as he finished the week as the low amateur in his debut major event. Since then, Hovland has consistently found himself lurking come the weekend in golf’s biggest events, finishing T33 or higher in five of his six majors played, including T21 at last year’s Masters.
With some of the strongest iron play on Tour coming into this week, Hovland also ranks #12 on Tour in Greens in Regulation % (71.9%) and Going for Green (77.6%), constantly putting his approaches within striking distance for one-putts.
I like for Hovland to be in contention come Sunday and for his past experience here at Augusta to be the difference as he matures into one of the Tour’s best young talents.
