Masters 2023: Collin Morikawa Betting Preview, Odds, Picks & Predictions

It’s Masters week, the unofficial start of golf season — at least for those of us in the northern parts of the country.

The Masters is the first major of the golf season and arguably the best. Augusta National is a special place — a visually stunning course that tests the mettle of the best players in the world. Augusta requires precision approach shots and a deft touch on pitches and chips. Its lightning-fast greens can make even the best putters in the world look like amateurs.

Scottie Scheffler, the No. 1 player in the world, won his first major at Augusta last year and is among the betting favorites this week, along with Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm.

As if the world’s greatest golfers taking on arguably the world’s greatest course wasn’t enough, we get some extra spice with some of the prodigal sons of the LIV Tour joining their former colleagues in this week’s field. Players in the Saudi-backed LIV Tour have been banned from playing in PGA Tour events, but they are welcome at Augusta, which means we’ll see former Masters champs Dustin Johnson, Patrick Reed, Sergio Garcia, Bubba Watson and Phil Mickelson.

Welcome to the second annual BettingPros Guide to The Masters. We’re going to drill down on the many wagering opportunities this tournament presents. We’ll take a closer look at the golfers with the best chances of earning the coveted Green Jacket. We’ll examine which bets look like sucker plays and which bets provide better value than a $1.50 pimento cheese sandwich at an Augusta concessions tent.

Collin Morikawa Course History

Morikawa will be making his fourth career start at Augusta this week. He has made the cut in each of his three previous Masters, finishing higher up on the leaderboard each and every year. A final round 67 last year, his first round in the 60s here, was enough for the California native to achieve a Top 5 finish. He will look to continue that trend this week, and quite possibly be hosting next year’s Champions Dinner if he can build on his history here.

Collin Morikawa Recent Form

It’s been a bit of a roller coaster year for Morikawa in 2023. After three top 6 or better finishes towards the start of the calendar year, he has two missed cuts in his last four stroke play events. Unable to advance out of group play at the Dell Match Play, and skipping the Valero this past week, Morikawa has had plenty of time to focus on setting up his game for Augusta.

Collin Morikawa Betting Outlook

With two major championship victories in his young career already, the 26 year-old will be looking to claim his first Green Jacket and third leg of the career grand slam. At 24-1, there is some great value here. If his course trajectory here holds true, Morikawa could pay off quite nicely come Sunday evening. He’s worth backing across the board, and feeling really good about it.

Pick: Collin Morikawa Outright Winner (+2200) | Top-5 Finish (+450) | Top-10 Finish (+210 at DraftKings)
