Masters 2023: Jordan Spieth Betting Preview, Odds, Picks & Predictions

It’s Masters week, the unofficial start of golf season — at least for those of us in the northern parts of the country.

The Masters is the first major of the golf season and arguably the best. Augusta National is a special place — a visually stunning course that tests the mettle of the best players in the world. Augusta requires precision approach shots and a deft touch on pitches and chips. Its lightning-fast greens can make even the best putters in the world look like amateurs.

Scottie Scheffler, the No. 1 player in the world, won his first major at Augusta last year and is among the betting favorites this week, along with Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm.

As if the world’s greatest golfers taking on arguably the world’s greatest course wasn’t enough, we get some extra spice with some of the prodigal sons of the LIV Tour joining their former colleagues in this week’s field. Players in the Saudi-backed LIV Tour have been banned from playing in PGA Tour events, but they are welcome at Augusta, which means we’ll see former Masters champs Dustin Johnson, Patrick Reed, Sergio Garcia, Bubba Watson and Phil Mickelson.

Welcome to the second annual BettingPros Guide to The Masters. We’re going to drill down on the many wagering opportunities this tournament presents. We’ll take a closer look at the golfers with the best chances of earning the coveted Green Jacket. We’ll examine which bets look like sucker plays and which bets provide better value than a $1.50 pimento cheese sandwich at an Augusta concessions tent.

  • Best Odds to win: +1800 at (BetMGM)
  • World ranking: 16
  • Best Masters finish: 1 (2015)

Jordan Spieth Course History

Spieth won the green jacket in just his second start ever at Augusta and the Texas native has five Top 5 finishes in nine career appearances at The Masters. A historian of the game, Spieth is well aware of the significance a second green jacket would mean to his career. A win would make him just the 18th golfer to win multiple times here. He would join a list of all-time greats such as Nicklaus, Woods, Palmer, Hogan and Crenshaw among others. Despite all his past success, a MC last year has to make you stop and think about backing him for just a second. But Spieth clearly loves the historic grounds og AGNC, so I’m willing to look past last year as a blip on the rada.

Jordan Spieth Recent Form

Spieth has two top five and a top 20 finish in his last three stroke play events in 2023. The 29 year old got bounced in the Group stage at the Dell Match Play, but his game is in excellent form. Ranked 9th in driving distance and 8th in SG:A from 150-175, the stars could align for Spieth to be back in Butler Cabin on Sunday evening if his putter cooperates this week.

Jordan Spieth Betting Outlook

Spieth is going to be a popular play. At 18-1 to win, he is amongst the top five options on the board. He is definitely someone who will be on my card, and not only to win. Whether it’s to win, Top 5 or Top 20, feel free to back Spieth and be confident he is a core play. There’s lots to like about him coming into the week. Course history, recent form in stroke play, and the fact that he loves everything about this tournament makes Spieth a great option.

Pick: Jordan Spieth Outright Winner (+1600) | Top-5 Finish (+360) | Top-10 Finish (+165 at DraftKings)
