Masters 2023: Will Zalatoris Betting Preview, Odds, Picks & Predictions

It’s Masters week, the unofficial start of golf season — at least for those of us in the northern parts of the country.

The Masters is the first major of the golf season and arguably the best. Augusta National is a special place — a visually stunning course that tests the mettle of the best players in the world. Augusta requires precision approach shots and a deft touch on pitches and chips. Its lightning-fast greens can make even the best putters in the world look like amateurs.

Scottie Scheffler, the No. 1 player in the world, won his first major at Augusta last year and is among the betting favorites this week, along with Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm.

As if the world’s greatest golfers taking on arguably the world’s greatest course wasn’t enough, we get some extra spice with some of the prodigal sons of the LIV Tour joining their former colleagues in this week’s field. Players in the Saudi-backed LIV Tour have been banned from playing in PGA Tour events, but they are welcome at Augusta, which means we’ll see former Masters champs Dustin Johnson, Patrick Reed, Sergio Garcia, Bubba Watson and Phil Mickelson.

Welcome to the second annual BettingPros Guide to The Masters. We’re going to drill down on the many wagering opportunities this tournament presents. We’ll take a closer look at the golfers with the best chances of earning the coveted Green Jacket. We’ll examine which bets look like sucker plays and which bets provide better value than a $1.50 pimento cheese sandwich at an Augusta concessions tent.

Will Zalatoris Stats to Know

  • Best Odds to win: +3500 at DraftKings
  • World ranking: 8
  • Best Masters finish: 2 (2021)
  • Last four Masters finishes: 2, 6
  • Last four tournament finishes: 4, T53, 73, T59

Will Zalatoris Course History

Zalatoris burst onto the scene in 2021 with a second-place finish in his first-ever appearance at Augusta. How did he follow that up in 2022? Once again, Zalatoris proved his dominant ability to golf in big spots, posting a sixth-place finish. A fan-favorite and absolute weapon at Augusta, Zalatoris will be a hugely popular pick this week at a course that has yet to give him trouble.

Will Zalatoris Recent Form

The main concern with Zalatoris this week is his recent form. Outside of his fourth-place finish at the Genesis Invitational in the middle of February, Zalatoris has failed to crack the top-35 in his previous five events. He finished T36 at The American Express, missed the cut at the Farmers Insurance Open, finished T53 at the Arnold Palmer, 73rd at THE PLAYERS Championship, and was a quick exit from the WGC Dell Technologies Match Play event. Perhaps returning to Augusta will be the turnaround Zalatoris needs this season.

Will Zalatoris Betting Outlook

Zalatoris is an intriguing play to make at 35/1, primarily due to his knack for performing well in Major Championships. However, his recent form is a big concern. His price is a bit too short for my liking, a factor that is mainly due to his popularity and track record at Augusta. If I were to take Zalatoris in any capacity this week, it would be in the Top-20 or Top-10 markets rather than his outright prop.

Pick: Will Zalatoris to finish Top-10 (+300 at DraftKings)
