No. 11 Michigan vs. No 3. Tennessee (-6)

Tip Saturday, 5:15 p.m. ET on CBS

It’s hard to argue against Tennessee being one of the best teams in the country at this time. They are coming into the second-round by winning 13 of their last 14 and playing well on both sides of the floor. On a first day where we saw a couple of double-digit seeds advance, the Vols had one of the more dominating wins as they beat Longwood by 32 and shot a season-high 60% from the floor. Guards Santiago Vescovi, Kennedy Chandler, and Josiah-Jordan James continue to play well, and they are going to be a problem for a Michigan perimeter that can play defense.

Depsite Michigan being an 11-seed, their talent does not reflect that, and it was not a shock when they took down Colorado State in the first round. Hunter Dickinson was dominant inside the paint with 21 points, six rebounds, and four blocks, while Eli Brooks had an impressive game himself with 16 points and was an excellent commander by creating opportunities for Dickinson and Caleb Houstan. A significant factor is the status of DeVante Jones as he recovers from a concussion, and if he doesn’t play, the Wolverines are at a disadvantage as they won’t have their best playmaker against that talented Tennese perimeter. The bench wasn’t much help against Colorado State, scoring just four points. That’s not going fly against Tennessee.

Pick: Tennessee (-6)
