St. Louis Cardinals (+128) at Texas Rangers (-152) | O/U 9.5 (-110/-110)

It has been a disastrous year for the Cardinals, and they currently have the worse record in the National League. The lineup has a great group of power bats with discipline, but the pitching hasn’t done that well, as they are 27th in the opponent’s batting average and strikeout percentage. They’ll have top prospect Matthew Liberatore on the mound, and he comes with an electric fastball and fall-off-the-table curveball, but he’s still trying to find his command.

The Rangers look like a real contender and have been great on both ends of the ball. Coming into yesterday, they had the sixth-best run differential through the first 58 games in the modern ball era (1901-present). Dan Dunning started the season in the bullpen, and his transition to rotation is going well, and he went 2-1 with a 2.28 ERA in May.

Dunning does provoke a lot of contact, which plays very well to this Cardinal lineup. Texas has been the best-scoring offense in the league this year, and they should get to the rookie hurler. I like this game to go over.

Pick: Over 9.5 (-110)

Los Angeles Dodgers (-210) at Cincinnati Reds (+176) | O/U 10.5 (+100/-122)

The Dodgers are right in the position they want to be by being tied with the Diamondbacks for first place in the NL West. They have started to improve as they’ve gotten healthy on the pitching staff, which includes the return of Tony Gonsolin. He’s continuing from that fantastic 2022 season and has started 3-1 with a 1.77 ERA.

The Reds were better in May by going .500 and scored more runs per game. Unfortunately, June hasn’t started well because they’re dropping four straight. It’s been a tough season for Luke Weaver altogether, but opponents have been able to launch off of him with a hard-hit percentage in the 22nd percentile and an xSLG in the 28th.

The Dodgers have the better lineup and pitching matchup, so they will cruise to a win on the runline.

Pick: Dodgers -1.5 (-128)

Oakland Athletics (+190) at Pittsburgh Pirates (-230) | O/U 8.5 (-102/-120)

The Pirates went just 8-18 in May, but through all that, they’re only one game out of first. They started to get back on track and are now riding a six-game winning streak. We are experiencing the breakout season for Mitch Keller as his seven wins already exceed a career-high with several MLB rankings over the 70th percentile, including hard hit percentage, strikeout percentage, and xBA.

The tumultuous year for the Athletics continues as they’ve 16 of their last 18 and now are tied for the worse record through the first 62 games in the modern era (12-50). James Kaprielian is on his second stint in the rotation, and although the 4.57 ERA isn’t great, he has dropped his ERA by nearly two runs in the last month.

Unfortunately, he’s been credited with the loss in all six of his starts this year, and that will not change tonight.

Pick: Pirates -1.5 (-113)
