Juan Soto (+420)
Juan Soto’s first season as a New York Yankee has gone about as well as fans could’ve expected. The 25-year-old phenom enters Monday night ranked among the top five American League players in home runs (37), RBI (95), and OPS (.068). He also grades sixth in the AL in slugging percentage against left-handed pitching (.603). That is worth noting ahead of a clash with Washington rookie starter Mitchell Parker.
Parker has been tagged for 10 long balls across his previous 10 home starts and has relied on his four-seam fastball (49.6%) more often than any other pitch. Soto has recorded a ridiculous slash line of .349/.370/.771 to go with 28 homers when he is thrown a fastball. Of course, this game has some extra excitement as Soto called Nationals Park home for over four years to begin his career. Trust him to put on a significant show.
Ian Happ (+440)
The Cubs are fighting to stay alive in a thrilling National League Wild Card race. Outfielder Ian Happ has done his best to make an impact at the plate as he leads the team with six home runs and 11 walks in August. Up next is a matchup with a division rival he has routinely torched in past meetings. Happ has logged a .308/.396/.563 slash line and tallied 18 dingers in 102 contests played versus the Pirates.
Right-hander Mitch Keller draws the start for Pittsburgh on Monday and has been a part of the aforementioned torching. Happ has reached base in 14 of his 30 plate appearances against Keller and three times have been via a homer. Keep in mind Keller owns a lackluster 4.78 ERA and 1.46 WHIP when facing the Cubs (12 games). There’s a clear opportunity for Happ to continue punishing the baseball during a visit to PNC Park.
Jarren Duran (+750) and Masataka Yoshida (+830)
Targeting offenses battling Jose Berrios has been a valuable strategy throughout this campaign. After all, the veteran Toronto hurler has surrendered the second-most home runs in the sport (27). He checks in outside the top 250 qualified pitchers in average exit velocity (89.6 mph), too. As if that’s not bad enough, following Berrios is a group of relievers that has given up the most homers of any MLB bullpen (77).
That puts the Red Sox in a great spot to put on a power display. Let’s double-dip here for a shot at a huge payout. Outfielder Jarren Duran is 4-for-11 with two moon shots versus Berrios and leads Boston in extra-base hits against right-handers (61). Meanwhile, Masataka Yoshida has posted a team-high .980 OPS over the last 30 days and boasts a .398 batting average in 16 career games opposing the Blue Jays. Lock in these underrated options.
