Marcell Ozuna (+350+350) & Matt Olson (+350+350)
Is it just me or do the Braves feel like they are underperforming early this season? It seems they haven’t been as dominant as they have been over the last two seasons. But when I look at the numbers, they are still one of the best offensive teams in the league while sitting in first place with an 18-6 record.
Either way, this team can still smash and has a pretty good matchup against Tanner Bibee. Bibee broke out on the scene last year with the Guardians with a 10-4 record and a 2.98 ERA.
In 2024, he has struggled a bit out of the gate despite a 2-0 record. While his ERA is 4.44, his xERA is even higher at 5.53. While only allowing 13 home runs all season last year, he has allowed four long balls this season. The Braves enter today with the highest overall ISO (.199) and second-highest against right-handed pitching (.183)
Mike Trout (+280+280) & Taylor Ward (+400+400)
Chris Paddack is on the mound for the Twins. He is 1-1 with a 5.57 ERA and is coming off his best start of the season. Last week, he pitched seven scoreless innings, giving up only six hits while striking out 10. But, yes, there is a catch. That start came against the White Sox, baseball’s worst team. Not only do they have the worst record but they also rank dead last in runs, hits, home runs, average and OBP.
Today he is up against an underrated Angels team, which ranks closer to league average in all offensive categories mentioned above.
I don’t need to say much about Mike Trout, but he leads the MLB in home runs (10) and has the highest ISO (.402) against right-handed pitching. Using our FantasyPros daily projections, Trout has the second-highest home run projection, trailing only Jose Altuve, who is playing at Coors Field.
Did you know his teammate Taylor Ward is not far behind him with seven home runs, tied for fifth in the MLB? He is also second on the team in ISO among guys with at least 40 plate appearances.
I am expecting big games from all four of these guys today.
