Max Muncy (+425) & Mookie Betts (+650)
German Marquez is on the bump for the Rockies today. Unfortunately for him, he is going up against a Dodgers lineup that has had great success against him throughout his career.
In three starts, Marquez is 0-2 with a 4.60 ERA, but has yet to allow a long ball this year.
At first, this may look like a concern, but it is an anomaly. Last year, he had a 2.25 HR/9 rate. It was 1.8 the year prior, so expect this streak of zero home runs allowed to come to an end soon.
I mentioned earlier that a lot of current Dodgers have had success against the Rockies right-hander. Two who stick out are Max Muncy and Mookie Betts.
Muncy has 32 career at-bats against Marquez, batting .219 with one double and four home runs.
Betts has racked up 22 career at-bats against the veteran right-hander, accumulating seven hits, including one long ball.
Muncy has started the season cold, but maybe a familiar foe will help him get going.
Taylor Ward (+380)
Patrick Corbin Day isn’t as popular as it once was, but it is still out there. Today, we get the chance to fade Corbin once again.
In his first start of the season, Corbin went four innings, giving up three runs on five hits, including a dinger to Dansby Swanson.
While Mike Trout is a good choice to back, especially since he’s off to a scorching start this season, I am going with Taylor Ward. He has slightly better numbers against lefties.
The Angels are one of a few teams that haven’t reached at least 100 at-bats versus left-handed pitching. Despite the small sample size, Ward is batting over .300 with a hard-hit% of 40% and an ISO of .180 against lefties this season.
