I will be the first to admit I wasn’t hip to Junior Caminero's power until I watched him at the Home Run Derby. He has now become one of my favorite players to watch.
There are times when the Home Run Derby can mess up players’ swings, but that’s not the case with the Rays superstar, who has hit four dingers in 11 games since the All-Star break.
Of his 27 home runs, 21 have come off right-handed pitching. Yankees right-hander Will Warren has allowed six homers over his last five starts.
Alex Bregman (+425)
Since coming back from injury, Alex Bregman has quietly been one of the hottest hitters in the league.
Over the last seven games, he is slashing .364/.391/.727 with two doubles and two home runs.
Twelve of his 14 home runs have come against right-handed pitching despite a lower batting average. His slugging rate jumps from .517 against lefties to .562 against righties.
Twins starter Zebby Matthews is set to make his seventh start of the season. He has a 4.97 ERA and 1.34 WHIP.
Cal Raleigh (+185)
The Home Run Derby hasn’t slowed down Cal Raleigh. He’s stayed on the same track as he was on during the first half of the season, batting .260 with three dingers since the break.
Lefty Jeffrey Springs gets the start for the A's. Over his last five starts, he has a 4.18 ERA and has given up six home runs. Over his 20 starts, he has allowed 20 dingers. Raleigh has hit 16 of his home runs off left-handed pitchers.
