Wednesday’s Best MLB Home Run Props & Bets
(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
Bryce Harper (+235) & Kyle Schwarber (+150)
Reds starter Hunter Greene is making his first start since early June. I always try and fade pitchers making a start after a long injured list (IL) stint because they are usually rusty. So we are backing two of Philly's biggest sluggers.
Bryce Harper has never faced Hunter Greene. He has been smashing opposing left-handed pitchers this year, slashing .270/.327/.504 with eight home runs.
It's obvious Kyle Schwarber is one of the league’s best home run hitters, but what surprised me about his splits is that, despite being a left-handed hitter, he is tied for the league lead in home runs (16) against opposing left-handed pitchers. His ISO of .350 is the third-best in the Majors, trailing only Aaron Judge and Cal Raleigh.
One of, if not both of these left-handed hitters, should be able to take advantage of a rusty Greene.
Ivan Herrera (+350)
Ivan Herrera is probably a name you don’t see too often on home run prop betting cards, but I feel great about his matchup today. Willson Contreras was hit in the foot yesterday with a pitch and may not play today, or else I would have touted him to hit a home run as well.
Rockies starter Austin Gomber has been serving up meatballs all season long. He has allowed at least one home run in seven straight starts and has given up two dingers in back-to-back starts coming into today. His 2.17 HR/9 is the highest among today's starters.
Of Herrera's 10 home runs, seven have come off a left-handed pitcher, which is a team high despite only having 66 at-bats. His .734 slugging rate is also a team high and ranks second in the Majors, trailing only Aaron Judge.
