MLB MVP Odds: Shohei Ohtani, Manny Machado Take Over as AL, NL Favorites
Thanks to a prolonged lockout, an abbreviated spring training, and a delayed start, we’re now one full month into the 2022 season as we head into the second full week of May. While there are new concerns about a “deadened” baseball after a few years of what seemed to be a “juiced” baseball, MLB hit the ground running in April. Thanks to a scorching hot start, Manny Machado has filled the stat sheet and risen up the leaderboard to become the current favorite to win the NL MVP award.
In the American League, Mike Trout has bounced back from an injury-plagued 2021 season to show that he has plenty left in the tank. He’s tied with or just behind teammate Shohei Ohtani at many sportsbooks for AL MVP, while superstar youngster Vladimir Guerrero Jr. isn’t far behind (and is even ahead of Trout at +450 on FanDuel Sportsbook).
