MLB No Runs First Inning (NRFI) Bet Odds, Picks & Predictions: Wednesday (6/7)

It’s June, meaning the MLB season is in full swing. We have a loaded slate today, starting in Pittsburgh at 12:35 p.m. EST and ending in Los Angeles, with the first pitch scheduled there for 9:38 p.m. EST.

Here are our best No Runs First Inning (NRFI) bets for Wednesday, June 7.

Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Washington Nationals

Pitching matchup: Zach Davies vs. Patrick Corbin

And just like that, it is Patrick Corbin Day once against. Last Wednesday, we took advantage of Corbin and played the YRFI, and it cashed! Today, we are returning to the well and looking to hit another YRFI.

While Arizona isn’t as good as the Dodgers are against lefties, I still feel good about this matchup. The current Arizona roster has a slash line of .297/.395/.514 over 37 plate appearances.

Even if the Diamondbacks can’t get to Corbin in the first inning, we still have Zach Davies on the mound to fall back on. Davies is making just his fifth start of the season and has a 0-1 record with a 5.40 ERA. Davies actually has a worse xFIP, SIERA and K% than his counterpart Corbin.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Cincinnati Reds

Pitching matchup: Noah Syndergaard vs. Brandon Williamson

The Dodgers scored three runs in the first inning against Luke Weaver and the Reds yesterday. Today, I believe the Dodgers can repeat that, especially going against a weaker pitcher. 

Brandon Williamson has allowed a run in the first inning in 50% of his starts and has a worse xFIP and xERA than his teammate Weaver, who the Dodgers teed off on last night.

Los Angeles ranks third in ISO (.242), eighth in wOBA (.342), seventh in wRC+ (117) and fifth in HardHit% (36%)

Syndergaard hasn’t been much better; he is 1-4 with a 6.54 ERA. “Thor” has given up three or more runs in three straight starts and a run in the first inning in four of his 10 starts this season.
