San Francisco Giants vs. Milwaukee Brewers

The Brewers get set to host the Giants for a brief two-game set starting tonight in Milwaukee. San Francisco goes with Scott Alexander in the opener, while Milwaukee counters with Corbin Burnes in this N.L. matchup set for 4:10 p.m. ET.

Alexander hasn’t seen much action in the big leagues over the last few years, and you have to go back to 2018 to find a season where he threw more than 20.0 innings (66.0 IP in 2018). The southpaw was working in the Dodgers bullpen from 2018-2021 and has been in the Giants system for all of 2022. Alexander finally got called up in late August and has thrown just 5.1 innings over five outings for San Francisco. He’s been efficient, allowing just one earned run (1.69 ERA) and posting a 0.56 WHIP with six strikeouts. Tonight’s game will be his second career start, and I would assume it’s in an “opener role” as he hasn’t worked more than 1.1 innings this season.

Burnes, on the other hand, will hopefully work much further into tonight’s game. The right-hander comes in at 9-6 on the year with a 3.02 ERA (16th) and 1.01 WHIP (10th). He’s also struck out the third-most hitters in 2022 with 200 punchouts. However, Burnes hasn’t had his best stuff recently, as he’s allowed 10 earned runs on 15 hits over his last two outings against the Diamondbacks and Pirates (11.2 IP).

While Burnes hasn’t been great recently, this will be a good opportunity for him to get back on track against a San Francisco team that ranks 23rd in team batting average (.234) and 13th in OPS (.709). He’s already faced them once this season and held them scoreless over 6.2 innings while striking out 11. As for Alexander, he’s faced this Brewers lineup over the years, and they’ve gone just 2-17 (.118) against him, with Andrew McCutchen, Kolten Wong, and Christian Yelich combining to go 0-10 (.000) against him with a walk. Omar Narvaez and Hunter Renfroe each have a double against Alexander. All things considered, I think this game has a great chance to be scoreless after one.

What are Player Props?
Player props refer to wagers that bettors can make based on player performance in a specific game. The majority of player props are built around the most common statistical benchmarks for a specific sport such as yards and touchdowns in football. Most player props are straight over/under plays that open at or near -110 and are adjusted based on where the money lands.
