Top MLB No Runs First Inning (NRFI) Picks & Odds: Mariners vs. Tigers

The Mariners look to break out the brooms this afternoon, and they’ll turn to Logan Gilbert to try and get them their fourth straight win. The Tigers will counter Eduardo Rodriguez in this A.L. clash set for 1:10 p.m. ET from Comerica Park.

Gilbert is putting together a respectable season for Seattle, and he comes in at 10-5 with a 3.49 ERA (32nd) and a 1.24 WHIP (40th). Most recently, the right-hander went 6.1 innings against the Guardians and allowed just two earned runs on eight hits. It was a no-decision effort that the M’s won 3-2 and improved to 16-10 in his starts this year.

Rodriguez has been excellent since returning from the IL in late August. The southpaw has made two starts and allowed just one earned run on 10 hits and six walks spanning 11.0 innings. Rodriguez picked up wins in both of those starts and sits at 3-3 with a 3.60 ERA and 1.36 WHIP on the year.

Rodriguez is in great form right now and has been very reliable at home this season. The 29-year-old hurler boasts a 2.84 ERA at Comerica, and opponents are hitting just .232 against him there. As for Gilbert, it’s a small sample size, but the Tigers have gone just 1-6 (.167) against him in his career. Additionally, he’s actually been better on the road this year, posting a 3.15 ERA compared to 3.94 at T-Mobile Park. I think Gilbert will be able to corral this Tigers team that ranks 27th in team batting average (.229) and 30th in OPS (.621).

What are Player Props?
Player props refer to wagers that bettors can make based on player performance in a specific game. Most player props are straight over/under plays that open at or near -110 and are adjusted based on where the money lands.
