Top MLB No Runs First Inning (NRFI) Odds, Picks & Predictions: Sunday (10/16)
Saturday's Divisional Round action saw three teams push through to the next round, with the Phillies and Padres, respectively, upsetting the Braves and Dodgers while the Astros broke out the brooms on the Mariners in an 18-inning affair. That leaves us with the Yankees trying to keep their season alive as they're trailing the Guardians 2-1 in their series. Let's dive into this one and check out why I'm locking in No Runs First Inning (NRFI) tonight in Cleveland.

New York Yankees vs. Cleveland Guardians
The Yankees looked like they were cruising to a 2-1 series lead until the 9th inning rolled around, and the Guardians' offense came back to life. Cleveland rattled off five singles in the final frame and scored three runs to win the contest 6-5. They'll turn to Cal Quantrill tonight as they attempt to close out the series while the Yankees send Gerrit Cole to the bump. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:07 p.m. ET from Progressive Field.
Cole started the series opener on Tuesday and earned a win in the 4-1 final over the Guardians. The right-hander went 6.1 innings and allowed one earned run on four hits and a walk. He struck out eight batters on 101 pitches. Cole has handled this Guardians roster throughout the years, limiting them to a .196 batting average over 102 at-bats (20 hits).
Quantrill was saddled with the loss in the aforementioned 4-1 affair on Tuesday night. The right-hander lasted 5.0 innings and surrendered all four runs on four hits and a trio of walks. As for his head-to-head numbers, the Yankees are 20-66 (.303) against Quantrill with six home runs and a double.
While Quantrill doesn't have fantastic numbers against the Bronx Bombers, he'll get an opportunity to pitch in front of his home crowd. Over 19 home starts in the regular season, the 27-year-old hurler went 9-0 with a 3.28 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP. Opponents hit .234 against him at Progressive compared to .282 in road games. As for Gerrit Cole, I expect him to bring his best stuff as he sets out to will his team to a game five. He was signed to be the top starter and show up in these big games, and I think he'll mow down this mediocre offense of the Guardians. Let's ride with NRFI in this one.
