MLB No Runs First Inning (NRFI) Prop Bet Odds, Picks & Predictions (8/30)
It’s a busy day of baseball, with the MLB slate beginning on the East Coast at 1:05 p.m. ET. Whether you can catch a whole game or just a glimpse, the No Runs First Inning (NRFI) market is a great opportunity to catch mid-week sweat.
Here are my best NRFI bets for Wednesday, Aug. 30.
Wednesday’s Best No Runs First Inning (NRFI) Bets
(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
Tampa Bay Rays vs. Miami Marlins
Pitching Matchup: Zach Eflin vs. Jesus Luzardo
Jesus Luzardo has been smashed at home. Over his last three home starts, he has allowed 14 earned runs while allowing eight home runs.
While the Rays’ offense has cooled down a bit, they still are a top-10 team against lefties. They have the 10th-highest OBP and a wRC+ of 116, sixth-best in the MLB against LHP.
Zach Eflin gets the starts for the Rays. Eflin has been great for Tampa in 2023 but struggles on the road. Away from Tropicana Field, Eflin is 3-4 with a 4.37 ERA.
Since July 1, the Miami Marlins have scored 23 first-inning runs, tied for the second most with the Baltimore Orioles, only trailing the Atlanta Braves.
This has the making of a sneaky YRFI play, as both teams have the ability to jump out to quick leads.
Bet: YRFI (-105)
Milwaukee Brewers vs. Chicago Cubs
Pitching Matchup: Brandon Woodruff vs. Kyle Hendricks
Since returning to the Brewers rotation this month, Brandon Woodruff is 2-1 with a 3.57 ERA. He has allowed an HR in every start and has had the advantage of pitching against some weaker lineups (White Sox, Pirates and Padres). Woodruff wasn’t as successful against one of the better teams in the league (Texas). He allowed four runs on three hits, including two home runs. This Cubs offense may not be as dangerous as the Rangers, but they have some pop of their own.
The Cubs have scored 22 first-inning runs since July 1, the fourth most, trailing Atlanta, Baltimore and Miami. Their eight first-inning HRs are also the fourth most during that time frame.
Also, don’t sleep on this Brewers team; they are one of the hottest teams in baseball. They recently went on an eight-game winning streak before losing to the Cubs 1-0 last night. During their win streak, they swept the Rangers, Twins and Padres. They look to widen their division lead as we head into the home stretch of the 2023 season.
Again, this is another under-the-radar YRFI play and gives us excellent value at plus money.
Bet: YRFI (+110)
