It feels like it’s been a long time since we’ve seen the dominance of Jacob deGrom, but he looks great early in the season. He still likes to lead with his fastball, but it’s lost some speed, so we’re seeing him mix the slider in, bringing fantastic results. Opposing batters are hitting .156 with a .188 slugging and a +3 run value.
This could be a tough matchup against an Athletics lineup that has been great this season. They hit for power and average, ranking eighth (.250) and fourth in slugging (.432), and they don't strike out much, ranking second in strikeout rate (18.9%).

Garrett Crochet changed the color of his sox, but he's still as dominant as ever, ranking fourth with a 1.13 ERA and 10th with 35 strikeouts. His fastball is one of the toughest in the league as it's reached close to triple digits, and opponents are only hitting .175, but with an expected batting average of .170. It's because he disguises the cutter and fastball, so hitters have trouble adjusting to the speed and movement of each pitch.
Seattle could find it a problem with how this team is hitting. It was thought this lineup would have difficulty hitting this season, and they are. They are 21st in strikeout percentage (23.6%) and 29th in whiff rate (29.5%). Crochet should control this Mariners lineup at home, where he has a 0.77 ERA.
