Tuesday's MLB Best Bets

(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

Boston Red Sox (-135) at Tampa Bay Rays (+114)  | O/U 9 (+102/-122)

Walker Buehler is coming off his best start of the season, going 6.1 innings and allowing one earned run against the Blue Jays. He's lost some velocity on his fastball, but he's starting to use more of his other pitches, especially the cutter and changeup, and as the season progresses, we might see him use them even more.

He may not have the same luck this week going against the Rays, who are starting to get hot with the bats. They have scored 34 runs in the last four games, which includes a big 16-1 win against Boston last night. Buehler does not have swing-and-miss stuff, with just a 21.7 whiff rate, and now he faces the Rays, who are eighth in whiff rate (24.7%).

Pick: Tampa Bay Rays Moneyline (+114)

Seattle Mariners (-110) at Cincinnati Reds  (-110)  | O/U 8.5 (-112/-108)

Luis Castillo returns to Cincinnati, where he was the ace for six seasons. His surface numbers of a 2.12 ERA and 1.12 WHIP are solid, but metrics are showing there's been some luck on his side. The fastball velocity is down a little, and he's been living close to the middle, where opposing hitters have a 14.6 barrel percentage.

Nick Lodolo has three straight quality starts to begin the season and went six scoreless in his last start. He's not an overpowering pitcher, but he excels at pinpointing his location, disguising the grip, and getting late movement.

While the Mariners are one of the best power lineups in the league, they struggle with swing and misses and chase bad pitches. That fits well with Lodolo's game and could get the win for the Reds.

Pick: Reds Moneyline (-110)

New York Mets (-112) at Minnesota Twins (-108)  | O/U 8 (-110/-110)

The Mets are looking great to start the season, and it's all thanks to their pitching. They enter the game first with a 2.22 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP. Tylor Megill has played a large part in that with a 0.63 ERA and has allowed just one extra-base hit in his first three starts. His slider has been tough to hit, with a 35.7% whiff rate and a .167 batting average. The problem we're seeing with his control, and he does have three walks in each of his last two starts.

So it's good that he's facing the Twins, who have the sixth-fewest walks drawn and the 11th-most strikeouts. It should be another fantastic stat line for him.
