Tuesday’s MLB Best Bets
(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
Detroit Tigers (-185) at Colorado Rockies (+154) | O/U 9.5 (-110/-110)
The Tigers continue to be one of the better stories in the league, coming off an amazing 2024 season. They are holding down first place in the American League Central and have won seven of their last 10.
The pitching has played a big part in their success. They are coming in with one of the best staffs in baseball. Their 2.96 ERA ranks third in the league. Tigers top prospect Jackson Jobe has improved since the season has progressed. He has fantastic movement to his fastball and slider, with the slider becoming his anchor pitch in recent starts. It's working because hitters are batting .118 with a 31.3% whiff rate on the pitch.
The Rockies are a better team at home, with four of their six wins in Colorado. However, they have the worst lineup in terms of whiff rate (30.7%) and could struggle against Jackson.
Pick: Tigers -1.5 (-112)
Los Angeles Dodgers (-270) at Miami Marlins (+220) | O/U 9.5 (-118/-102)
The Dodgers continue to roll, coming into Tuesday winning eight of their last nine. Four of those have come against the Marlins, sweeping them in Dodger Stadium last week. The offense has been crushing Miami's pitching, scoring an average of 10.2 runs during the four games.
They get another opportunity to score a lot of runs with Cal Quantrill on the mound. He has a mediocre 8.10 ERA this season and has allowed four or more earned runs in three straight starts. This includes his last start against the Dodgers, where he went 3.2 innings and allowed four earned runs.
There is no value in taking the Dodgers straight up or on the run line, but that offense has helped the over hit, and they can push it to a high-scoring game today.
Pick: Over 9.5 Runs (-118)
Texas Rangers (-120) at Boston Red Sox (+100) | O/U 8.5 (-118/-102)
We've got a revenge game alert with the Rangers in Boston. Former Red Sox pitcher Nathan Eovaldi will take the mound for Texas. Eovaldi continues to be one of the more consistent pitchers. He's gone at least six innings in his seven starts, allowing two or fewer runs in five.
Although this could be a tough spot as the Red Sox bats are hot and rank eighth in wOBA (.350) and slugging percentage (.465) since April 29th. There is a difference between the Boston fans cheering for you and against you. The last time Eovaldi pitched in Fenway Park with the Rangers, he allowed four earned runs in five innings.
Pick: Red Sox Moneyline (+100)
