Tuesday's Best MLB Picks & Predictions

(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

Detroit Tigers (+128) New York Yankees (-156) | O/U 8.0 (-104/-115)

The Yankees just got a much-needed series win against the Blue Jays to move them a little closer to first place in the American League East. The offense has been carrying this team for most of the season, but the pitching has stepped up recently, as their 3.91 ERA in September ranks 10th.

That includes Will Warren, who allowed two earned runs in five innings against the Astros. It's been easier to back him at home with a 3.30 ERA than on the road, where he has a 5.43 ERA.

The Tigers have hit a slump recently, dropping nine of their last 13 games. The schedule hasn't been too difficult, and they were recently swept by the last-place Athletics and lost a series to the Mets and last-place White Sox. This usually dependable pitching staff has been abysmal with a 6.00 ERA in their last six games.

Casey Mize helped with one of the recent wins, but that was in Detroit, where he's been comfortable. Going on the road has been a different story, as he's allowed at least four earned runs in four straight road starts. He was also lit up in his only start at Yankee Stadium, allowing five earned runs in five innings.

Pick: Yankees Moneyline (-156)

Arizona Diamondbacks (+119) San Francisco Giants (-145) | O/U 7.5 (-108/-115)

It has been a roller coaster ride of a season for the Giants. There was a span where they had the worst record, and it looked like the season was lost; now they are one of the hottest teams. They are coming into this game having won 12 of their last 15 and are just 3.5 games out of the final Wild Card spot.

It isn't just one aspect; both the offense and pitching have looked great. Since August 23rd, when this run began, the offense is scoring an average of seven runs per game (first), and the pitching staff has a 3.92 ERA (10th).

Robbie Ray has not been at his best with a 5.66 ERA in his last four starts, but the offense has given him plenty of run support, and the Giants have won each of those games.

They already showed off that offense again on Monday with an 11-5 win to start this series against the Diamondbacks. Arizona starting pitcher Zac Gallen has a great history against this Giants lineup with a .181 opponent batting average, but this has been a bad season for him. He's in line to post his worst stats and currently has a career-worst 4.77 ERA, and his 1.4 WAR is his lowest since his rookie season. Look for the Giants to keep the hit streak going.

Pick: Giants Moneyline (-145)
