Monday’s Best MLB Picks & Predictions

Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook | All bets are for 1 unit

    Colorado Rockies (+168) at Los Angeles Angels (-205) | O/U 8.5 (-105/-114)

Kyle Freeland is one of the worst starting pitchers in baseball this year. According to FanGraphs, among 135 pitchers with at least 40 innings pitched, Freeland has the highest ERA (8.08), the third-highest xERA (6.67), a 4.41 xFIP, 4.19 SIERA and 1.75 WHIP.

The veteran lefty can’t just blame Coors Field for his struggles, either. Freeland has a 5.13 ERA, 4.16 xFIP, 1.34 WHIP, 4.5% walk rate and 17.4% strikeout rate in 114 innings on the road since last season.

Freeland has been especially bad with the platoon disadvantage. The 722 right-handed batters who’ve faced Freeland since last season have lit him up for a .307 batting average, .354 on-base percentage (OBP), .508 slugging rate and .370 wOBA.

Freeland’s ineptitude against righties could prove problematic for him tonight. All nine of the projected starters for the Angels are right-handed batters.

Los Angeles can also score runs against Colorado’s dreadful bullpen. The Rockies have the fifth-highest bullpen ERA (4.94) this season. The Angels should scratch at least five runs across the plate tonight.

Pick: Angels Team Total Over 4.5 Runs (-120)

    Los Angeles Dodgers (-157) at Arizona Diamondbacks (+130) | O/U 9.0 (-105/-114)

Eduardo Rodriguez’s 2.31 ERA in 11 starts this season would suggest he’s pitched like an ace. He hasn’t. The veteran lefty’s 4.43 xERA, 4.19 xFIP, 4.56 SIERA, 1.21 WHIP, 9.2% walk rate and 18% strikeout rate are more indicative of the quality of his pitching in 2026, and they aren’t flattering numbers.

Rodriguez’s numbers at home aren’t encouraging for his outlook tonight, either. He has a 3.88 ERA, 4.74 xFIP, 1.33 WHIP, 9% walk rate and 16.6% strikeout rate in 106.2 innings at home since last season.

Rodriguez has also allowed a .325 wOBA to lefties and a .338 wOBA to righties since last season. His struggles are ideal for the Dodgers’ offensive outlook tonight.

Los Angeles’s projected lineup is filled with lefty killers. Eight of their projected starters have at least a 117 wRC+ against southpaws since 2024. Santiago Espinal’s 92 wRC+ is the lowest mark among the nine hitters.

The Dodgers’ matchup against Arizona’s bullpen is also midpack. Arizona’s relievers rank 15th in ERA (3.92) and 13th in xFIP (4.00) this season.

The Dodgers should hang runs in bunches tonight, and they won’t lose out on their final round of at-bats in the ninth inning if they’re leading, either, since they’re on the road tonight.

The Diamondbacks also have a decent matchup for their offense. Emmet Sheehan has a 4.70 ERA, 3.87 xERA, 3.28 xFIP and 3.22 SIERA in 10 starts (51.2 innings).

The righty’s ERA estimators provide hope for better results. However, Sheehan’s 4.03 career ERA is also higher than his xERA (3.38), xFIP (3.80) and SIERA (3.58). Sheehan might not merely be a victim of bad luck.

Sheehan’s also unimpressive on the road - 5.14 ERA, 4.16 xFIP, 1.37 WHIP, 9.3% walk rate and 23.8% strikeout rate in 49 innings on the road since last season.

Meanwhile, Arizona’s offense is at its best at home - 11th in wRC+ (108), with a 17.5% strikeout rate. The National League West foes should combine to hit the over onight.

    Pick: Over 9.0 Runs (-105)
