Monday’s Best MLB Picks & Predictions
Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook | All bets are for 1 unit
Seattle Mariners (-126) at Baltimore Orioles (+108) | O/U 8.5 (-128/+104)
Emerson Hancock is pretty mediocre on the road. According to FanGraphs, he has a 4.07 ERA and 4.64 xFIP in 77.1 innings on the road since last season. Still, even Hancock’s mediocre road numbers are better than what the Orioles can expect from their pitching. Additionally, Hancock has a nifty 2.80 ERA, 3.39 xFIP and 3.33 SIERA in a dozen starts in 2026.
The Mariners have won seven of Hancock’s starts. Seattle also has a successful bullpen, ranking second in ERA (3.15).
Circling back to Baltimore’s pitching, Chris Bassitt is projected to start. The 37-year-old righty has a 5.27 ERA, 4.88 xERA, 4.92 xFIP and 4.83 SIERA in 12 appearances (10 starts) in 2026.
Furthermore, Baltimore’s bullpen is 23rd in ERA (4.63). The Orioles have lost in Bassitt’s previous two appearances and three of his last four.
The offenses are on nearly even footing. The Mariners are second in wRC+ (119) versus righties, and the Orioles are fifth in wRC+ (111) versus right-handed pitching in 2026. However, Seattle has just a 98 wRC+ on the road, and the Orioles have a 113 wRC+ at home.
Still, Seattle’s sizable pitching advantage is enough of a reason to take them on the Moneyline.
Pick: Mariners Moneyline (-126)
Philadelphia Phillies (-185) at Toronto Blue Jays (+150) | O/U 7.5 (EVEN/-122)
Cristopher Sanchez is dominating the opposition, recording the following stats in 13 starts and 86.1 innings:
- 7 wins
- 10 quality starts
- 1 shutout
- 2 losses
- 1.46 ERA
- 2.83 xERA
- 2.33 xFIP
- 2.54 SIERA
- 1.09 WHIP
- 4.9% walk rate
- 29.5% strikeout rate
- 58.6% groundball rate
- 15.3% SwStr%
- 32.8% CSW%
- 118 stuff+
- 98 location+
- 115 pitching+
The Phillies have won eight of Sanchez’s starts, including five by more than 1.5 runs. Philadelphia also has an above-average bullpen, ranking 12th in ERA (3.72).
Patrick Corbin is at the other end of the spectrum in terms of pitching quality in 2026 compared to Sanchez. Corbin has a 3.98 ERA in 11 starts, which doesn’t align with his 5.28 xERA, 4.43 xFIP and 4.62 SIERA.
The Phillies also have a slightly better bullpen than the Blue Jays, as evidenced by the former’s 3.72 ERA and the latter’s 3.96 ERA in 2026.
Both offenses are below average against lefties this season. Having said that, Corbin can make the Phillies’ offense look potent tonight, and the Blue Jays are unlikely to enjoy success against Sanchez.
Finally, if the Phillies open up a lead for Sanchez, the Blue Jays are less likely to use their best, high-leverage bullpen options, enhancing the likelihood of Philadelphia winning by more than 1.5 runs tonight.
The -185 Moneyline odds for the Phillies are somewhat palatable because of the pitching discrepancy, but the EVEN odds for Phillies -1.5 are more appealing.
Pick: Phillies -1.5 (EVEN)
