MLB Player Prop Bets & Picks: Dodgers vs. Mets (Sunday)

Game 6 of the National League Championship Series (NLCS) takes place Sunday night. The Los Angeles Dodgers look to clinch at home, while the New York Mets will try to force a Game 7.

Los Angeles will be going with a bullpen game, with Ryan Brasier first up. New York will counter with Sean Manaea.

Here are my favorite MLB player props for Sunday, October 20.

Sunday's Best MLB Player Prop Bets

Tommy Edman Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBI (+100 at BetMGM)

I wrote up a Same Game Parlay for Game 5 of this series on Friday. One of the legs was for Tommy Edman to get a hit. He finished with two. At the risk of repeating much of what I wrote in that article, Edman destroys left-handed pitching. Including the playoffs, Edman is now 21-for-46 with nine extra-base hits versus lefties this season. He is also 2-for-3 with a homer in his career against Manaea.

Edman has recorded at least two hits + runs + RBI in 11 out of 15 games against left-handed starting pitchers this year. He has gone over this number in all three games in this series in which the Mets have had a left-handed starter. In those three games, Edman has registered seven hits, one run and five RBI. Edman should hit in the middle of the Dodgers' lineup on Sunday. This should give him opportunities to score and drive in runs on multiple trips to the plate.

I am taking the over on this prop, but I certainly would not fight anyone who wants to instead play Edman for 2+ total bases. For those curious, Edman has at least two total bases in 10 out of 15 games versus lefty starters.

Tyrone Taylor Under 0.5 Total Bases (+105 at ESPN Bet)

It may seem odd to fade Tyrone Taylor despite not knowing exactly who he will face on Sunday. But I believe there is some value in this specific line.

You can bet the under on Taylor's hits + runs + RBI prop instead if you would like. Sportsbooks have set that number at 1.5. However, it is highly juiced at -180. I would prefer to bet against Taylor registering a base hit altogether.

Taylor is 1-for-10 in this series and 4-for-33 in the postseason. That includes a 3-for-31 mark versus right-handed pitchers. Los Angeles only has one left-handed pitcher (Anthony Banda) on their NLCS roster. Taylor hits toward the bottom of the lineup and should be surrounded by other right-handed hitters. That means there is almost no chance he will face Banda on Sunday.

Because Taylor has struggled so mightily at the plate, there is a good chance he gets pinch-hit for at some point on Sunday. Taylor has started four games in this series. In two of the four, manager Carlos Mendoza has pulled Taylor for a pinch-hitter after only two plate appearances.

What is even better about this bet is that Taylor has remained disciplined at the plate despite not being able to hit his way on base. He has drawn four walks and been hit twice by right-handers. That means he has a hit in just three of his 37 plate appearances (8.1 percent) against right-handed pitching during the playoffs. From a basic math standpoint, we are getting plus-money on a prop with a 92% hit rate, that we may only have to run twice. Whether it works out or not, time will tell. But this feels like a great value given the data at hand.
