(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
Davis Martin 2+ Walks Allowed (-160)
The White Sox were one of the worst teams in MLB history last year, with a 41-121 record, the second-worst ever. It hasn’t been any better this year, as they have the second-worst record (14-33) in the league.
The White Sox are on a four-game losing streak, which could be extended facing the first-place Mariners. It's been a solid season for Davis Martin with a 3.65 ERA. In five of his nine starts, he's gone at least five innings and has allowed one or fewer runs.
Davis has also shown good control in some starts, as his walk rate is in the 82nd percentile. However, he is facing a disciplined team in the Mariners, who are second in walks per game (3.9). Of the four starts where he's allowed one or fewer walks, just one team is in the top 15 in walks per game.
Kris Bubic 6+ Strikeouts (+105)
The Royals were expected to take a giant leap forward after an unexpected 2024 season, during which they made their first playoff appearance since winning the World Series in 2015. They are a solid 26-22, but that's only good enough for fourth in the American League Central. They have been inconsistent throughout this young season; they recently won seven straight, but then proceeded to lose six of their next eight.
Kris Bubic has been one of the few Royals who have been consistent throughout the season. He's coming in fifth with a 1.66 ERA, and he's been tough to make contact off, as he's in the 84th percentile in chase rate, 77th in whiff rate and 74th in strikeout rate. Although it's only 25 plate appearances, he has a 32% strikeout rate against the Giants. San Francisco ranks 23rd in strikeout rate this season.
Freddie Freeman 2+ Total Bases (+100)
The National League West appears to be a competitive division, with four teams separated by just four games. The Dodgers are at the top of the division, but they are on a slight slide, having just suffered a three-game sweep by their cross-town rival, the Angels.
Despite the losses, Freddie Freeman remained hot. Over his last six games, he is batting .478. Freeman faces Brandon Pfaadt, with whom he is batting a career 5-for-15 with a home run and only an 18% whiff rate.
