Major League Baseball has a total of 10 games on the slate tonight, and we have a whopping six West Coast games with a first pitch of 9:38 p.m. ET or later. There is a nationally televised doubleheader on FOX Sports 1 (FS1), with playoff implications in the Tampa Bay Rays and Detroit Tigers meeting at 6:40 p.m. ET, and the Cincinnati Reds and San Francisco Giants square off at 9:45 p.m. ET. Below are our top MLB player props for Monday, August 24th.

Ranger Suarez Over 17.5 Outs Recorded (-148)
The southpaw Ranger Suarez faces the Miami Marlins, a team he knows well from his days with the Philadelphia Phillies. He is 7-2 with a 3.07 ERA and 1.33 WHIP with an 8.6 K/9 ratio across 11 starts and 11 relief appearances in 82 innings, while serving up just seven homers.
The Marlins are in the hunt for a playoff spot in the National League, but they’ve really had a difficult time against left-handed starting pitchers, which might hold them back down the stretch if they face a lefty-heavy team. Miami has managed a dismal 13-18 record versus lefties. Look for Suarez to last at least six frames, as he keeps the lefty-challenged Marlins down.
Gabriel Moreno Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-114)
Gabriel Moreno served as the designated hitter in Sunday’s series finale against the Cincinnati Reds, and he went hitless with two walks, halting a 15-game hitting streak. He is still hitting a gaudy .354 (23-for-65) with eight runs scored, two homers and 14 RBI with six walks in the past 16 games.
Moreno should be able to stay hot against Chicago Cubs righty Kevin Gausman, who has allowed nine hits across nine innings in his past two starts, serving up 14 hits, including two homers, with three walks.
Chase Burns Over 17.5 Outs Recorded (-110)
Chase Burns (14-2, 2.51 ERA, 1.11 WHIP) has had an amazing season, and he has shown no signs of letting up, either. He is 6-1 with a 3.02 ERA and 1.12 WHIP on the road this season across 11 starts in 62.2 innings.
Burns is 4-1 with a 2.82 ERA and 1.20 WHIP with 43 strikeouts across 38.1 innings in the past seven starts. He has a 2.93 ERA and 1.18 WHIP in the past 83 innings across his past 15 starts. Bruns has been one of the most consistent pitchers in all of baseball.
Burns allowed just two hits and a walk in six scoreless innings in a 3-0 loss at Great American Ball Park on April 16th in an 87-pitch quality start the last time he faced the Giants. Win or lose, Burns is worth a look to get to at least six innings (18 outs recorded), in what should be a rather lopsided result.
Parker Messick Over 6.5 Strikeouts (-150)
All-Star southpaw Parker Messick has had some difficulty in the win-loss department lately, going 2-3 in his past seven starts and 4-7 across the past 15 outings. However, in his past seven starts, he has a 1.88 ERA and 0.88 WHIP with 43 strikeouts across 43 innings. Messick has walked just eight batters during that span, too.
Let’s back the over on Messick’s strikeouts prop against the Angels. They have struck out 1,236 times across 131 games, the most strikeouts in the American League and third-most in the Majors. That’s 9.44 strikeouts per game. Messick is averaging a punchout per inning since July 10th.
