MLB Player Props & Bets : Saturday (5/16)

Today is another busy day for Major League Baseball, with 15 games scheduled. Of course, with every team in action, bettors will have more than just 15 moneylines, run lines, and totals to bet on. There are 40+ MLB player props with each game as well (conservative estimate).

That means there are upwards of 600+ different player props available for your betting pleasure. The following are my favorites.

Texas Rangers vs. Houston Astros

Jacob deGrom has gone over this number three times in eight starts this season, but has also recorded seven in three. He'll be facing a Houston lineup today that has struck out 63 times over the last week (seven games). In 53 career at-bats vs. the Astros, deGrom has recorded 23 strikeouts. Given how he's pitching this season and considering his opponent, this prop is a solid value play at plus-money odds.

Pick: Jacob deGrom Over 7.5 Strikeouts (+118)

Boston Red Sox vs. Atlanta Braves

Bryce Elder has gone 4-1 in nine starts, with three of them coming in his last six. He's been pitching well, with a 1.81 ERA and 1.01 WHIP. With the Red Sox struggling to score runs (eight in their last five games) and the Braves’ lineup recording 4+ per game over the last week, there is a very good chance Elder will be in position to earn a win today. He's gone over 17.5 outs in four of his last five starts. Against this Red Sox lineup, it would be more surprising if he did not last at least six innings (18 outs).

Picks: Bryce Elder to Record a Win – Yes (+139) & Over 17.5 Recorded Outs (-176)

Miami Marlins vs. Tampa Bay Rays

Jonathan Aranda has hit .429 over the last week with six hits, including a home run and five walks. He's recorded 2+ total bases in his last four games and in five of his last six. Lefties are hitting .333 (31-for-121) against Marlins starter Sandy Alcantara on the road with 12 extra base hits.

Pick: Jonathan Aranda 2+ Total Bases (+140)

Philadelphia Phillies vs. Pittsburgh Pirates

Kyle Schwarber leads the league with 20 home runs this season. He had two against the Pirates last night and 1+ in seven of his last eight games. With how he has been swinging the bat lately, he is a solid bet to hit a home run against Pirates starter Bubba Chandler, who has given up six across his last six starts (but in four games). He has only been walked six times this month (14 games), but after hitting two home runs last night, I wouldn't be shocked to see the Pirates pitch around him making his prop to record 2+ or 3+ total bases solid plays.

Picks: Kyle Schwarber to Hit a Home Run (+242) &  2+/3+ Total Bases (+103/+169)
