(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
Dustin May Over 4.5 Strikeouts (-125)
Dustin May is coming off a poor outing against the Padres, where he allowed five earned runs in five innings. But that start was on the road, and this one is at home, where May has been much more effective. Just check out his game log:
- 6.0 innings, 2 earned runs, 5 strikeouts
- 6.0 innings, 1 earned run, 8 strikeouts
- 5.0 innings, 4 earned runs, 8 strikeouts
- 5.0 innings, 3 earned runs, 3 strikeouts
- 6.0 innings, 1 earned run, 7 strikeouts
- 5.0 innings, 1 earned run, 6 strikeouts
As we can see above, May has racked up five or more strikeouts in five of his six home starts. This includes three games with seven or more strikeouts.
It’s not like the Giants are that tough of a matchup, as they have a 22.1% strikeout rate versus righties this season.
Kyle Harrison Under 1.5 Walks (+115)
We’re going to take a shot on a short outing from Kyle Harrison (14.5 outs prop) to help us nail this plus-money walks prop.
While the Dodgers are one of the toughest matchups in baseball, they don’t walk as much against lefties (6.9% walk rate) as they do against righties (10% walk rate).
Despite walking two or more batters in two of his last three starts, Harrison has shown strong command, allowing just nine walks in total all season.
When you add in the fact that Harrison is likely only going a maximum of five innings here, you can see why taking this prop at +115 odds looks appealing.
Nick Pivetta Under 17.5 Outs (-125)
Nick Pivetta has been struggling lately, allowing four earned runs or more in each of his last two outings.
Up next is a tough matchup on the road against the Diamondbacks, who have put up a 123 wRC+ at home, which is tied for third in the Majors.
The Padres’ righty has been much less effective on the road (4.94 ERA, 1.45 WHIP) compared to at home (2.40 ERA, 0.85 WHIP), which is bad news in this difficult spot.
We should also note that the Diamondbacks have averaged 3.95 pitches per plate appearance against righties, which ranks eighth in the league.
