Jesus Luzardo Over 18.5 Outs Recorded (+145)
Cristopher Sanchez and Zack Wheeler command a lot of attention in Philadelphia’s starting rotation. Don’t forget about Jesus Luzardo, though. The crafty southpaw has turned in a 3.36 ERA and 1.16 WHIP across 23 starts. The combination of a high strikeout rate (29.0%) and high ground-ball rate (52.0%) has helped Luzardo escape jams to lengthen his outings. Overall, he has recorded at least 19 outs in four of his previous five performances.
The Blue Jays are far from a menacing foe. They have logged the fourth-lowest OPS (.671) and produced the third-fewest runs per contest (3.97) on the road this year. Not only that, but Toronto averages the fourth-fewest pitches per plate appearance (3.77). Manager Jon Schneider’s squad simply isn’t making opposing starters uncomfortable on the mound. Expect some quick innings to guide Luzardo beyond six frames on Sunday afternoon.
Emerson Hancock Under 4.5 Strikeouts (-118)
The Rays do not have the best record in the American League (70-46) by accident. Plate discipline is a vital part of their success. Tampa Bay’s offense has tallied the fewest strikeouts in the sport thanks to a minuscule 20.5% whiff rate and lofty 67.4% chase contact rate. Both of those rates rank at the top of the leaderboard by multiple percentage points. Working deep counts and pouncing on mistakes go a long way in today’s game.
Seattle’s Emerson Hancock is set to battle the Rays on Sunday. The young right-hander hasn’t flashed from a strikeout perspective, posting a lackluster 28.1% chase rate and 23.4% whiff rate in 21 starts. Nine of those outings featured Hancock racking up fewer than five strikeouts. Take note that the Mariners have a rested bullpen and are aiming to avoid a sweep at home. An early hook could be in play if trouble arises for Hancock. Back the Under in a brutal matchup.
Alec Burleson to Hit a Home Run (+360)
It’s been a campaign to forget for Colorado’s Michael Lorenzen. The veteran hurler has registered a disastrous 6.94 ERA and 1.85 WHIP over 24 appearances. To dive even deeper, Lorenzen checks in outside the top 340 MLB arms in hard-hit rate (46.4%) and average exit velocity (91.1 miles per hour). Batters are smoking the baseball against him. Lorenzen has surrendered a home run in seven of his 12 away starts in 2026.
The Cardinals will be licking their chops at the plate on Sunday. Alec Burleson sticks out as a great option to go yard. The outfielder leads St. Louis with three homers in August and a 49.2% hard-hit rate on the season. It’s worth noting that Burleson has also recorded the fourth-highest OPS versus right-handers in the National League (.960). To top it all off, Burleson is 4-for-5 with two blasts facing Lorenzen. Lock this in before the odds drop.
