Thursday’s Top MLB Player Props & Bets

    (Odds courtesy of BetMGM)

    Otto Lopez 2+ Hits + Runs + RBIs (-140

Let's get the day started by backing Otto Lopez in the Diamondbacks-Marlins finale. Lopez has literally been the best hitter in the Majors this season, ranking first in batting average (.342). He has been even better as of late, increasing his batting average to .409 over the last seven days.

Lopez will be swinging it against Arizona's Merrill Kelly, who has struggled this season with a 5.71 ERA and a 1.49 WHIP. The Miami two-hitter is 5-for-7 (.714) lifetime against Kelly with three doubles. The team as a whole is slashing .341/.357/.561 against him, so Lopez should have plenty of opportunities to collect RBI or be driven in.

Michael Wacha Over 2.5 Earned Runs (-160

Michael Wacha gets the nod for the Royals today, and this will be his second meeting against the Rangers in the last two weeks. Last time didn't go so well, as the right-hander got lit up for six earned runs on eight hits and four walks over five innings. Wacha has now allowed three or more earned runs in two straight starts.

Texas has produced against Wacha throughout his career, with their current roster slashing .279/.345/.457 against him over 129 at-bats. The Rangers are rolling right now, ranking eighth in wOBA (.346) and fourth in strikeout rate (18.6%) over the last seven days. Factor in that the wind will be blowing out at 19 miles per hour (MPH) at first pitch, and this could be a rough outing for Wacha.

Alex Bregman Under 0.5 Singles (+110

The Cubs continue to flounder, as they've now lost 18 of their last 23 games. Alex Bregman has been struggling to find his footing recently, hitting just .143 with a .048 ISO over the last seven days. The infielder has gone hitless in five of his last eight games. As for this prop specifically, Bregman hasn't recorded a single in seven of his last nine outings.

Add in that he's 0-for-3 (.000) lifetime against Colorado's Ryan Feltner (4.22 ERA), and there's enough here to support a play on Bregman to not record a base knock.

Freddie Freeman Over 1.5 Total Bases (-105

I'll finish the night by backing Freddie Freeman against Mitch Keller (4.81 ERA) and the Pirates. Los Angeles has owned Keller, with their current roster going 25-for-80 (.325) with a 1.001 OPS against him. That includes Freeman, who is 9-for-18 (.500) with a single and a home run versus Keller.

Freeman is also in elite form at the moment, ranking 25th in batting average (.364) and 31st in wOBA (.448) over the last seven days. He has cleared 1.5 total bases in three straight games, as well as in six of his last eight contests.
