MLB Player Props & Bets: Thursday (8/27)
Major League Baseball has a total of five evening games tonight, so the pickings are rather slim. We’re going to focus a lot on the Arizona Diamondbacks-San Francisco Giants game at 9:45 p.m. ET, as that game figures to have plenty of offensive fireworks with two giving pitchers working against each other. The Los Angeles Dodgers and Atlanta Braves meet at 7:15 p.m. ET on FS1. Below are our top MLB player props for Thursday, August 27th.

Jacob Misiorowski Over 8.5 Strikeouts (-118) & 6 or Fewer Hits + Walks + Earned Runs Allowed (-111)
We haven’t done a lot of double dipping on props this season, but with the rather short slate, we’re going to kick the tires on a couple of pitcher props for one of the best fireballers in the game.
Misiorowski heads into this series finale against the New York Mets with a sparkling 13-5 record, 1.68 ERA and a minuscule 0.76 WHIP across 145 innings. He has also struck out 216 batters this season. While he is just 6-4 in 10 road starts, he has managed a comparable 1.75 ERA and 0.76 WHIP in 10 starts over 61.2 innings, piling up 85 strikeouts. Teams are hitting just .144 against him on the road, which is even better than his tantalizing .158 mark at American Family Field across 14 starts.
The Mets have struck out 1,127 times through 133 games, which ranks middle of the road. That mark is good for 13th, but they’re fifth in the National League.
While Misiorowski struck out just six batters against the Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Dodgers in his past two starts, that’s against top-tier teams heading for the postseason. Those two teams are among the best in terms of plate discipline, too. He should be able to record nine strikeouts tonight, if not a return to the double digits.
In addition, it’s highly unlikely the Mets are able to chase Misiorowski and pile up hits and/or walks against him. And, they’re not likely to ring up a lot of runs, either. As such, let’s go low on his combined walks + hits + earned runs prop, as he rockets toward another victory on the road.
Freddie Freeman 2+ Hits + Runs + RBIs (+124)
Yes, the Dodgers are facing left-handed pitcher Chris Sale (12-9, 2.20 ERA, 1.03 WHIP). But this is a super inviting player prop on one of the best hitters in the National League. And Freddie Freeman is always amped to return to his launching pad in Atlanta.
These two haven’t crossed paths much, but Freeman is 4-for-12 (.333) with two doubles, two homers and four RBIs against Sale in their careers, good for a 1.000 slugging rate and 1.333 OPS.
Freeman is hitting a cool .264 versus lefties this season, with six doubles and four homers across just 159 at-bats. Look for Freeman to get at least two combined hits + runs + RBIs in this one.
Nolan Arenado 2+ Hits + Runs + RBIs (+110)
Nolan Arenado gets a chance to stand in against righty Landen Roupp (7-13, 4.34 ERA, 1.31 WHIP), and he has seen the ball well out of the hand of the Giants’ starter in their brief encounters over the years.
Arenado is 5-for-11 (.455) with three doubles, an RBI, a .727 slugging rate and a 1.182 OPS. Max Kepler has also collected four hits (including a double and an RBI) in six at-bats versus Roupp, if you want to double up.
