MLB Player Props & Bets: Tuesday (8/11)

Tonight, I have my eye on Eury Perez, Dylan Cease and Steven Kwan. Can Perez take advantage of a matchup against the most strikeout-prone team in the league? Will Cease find success against the Red Sox in his fourth start of the season against them? And will Kwan continue his hot hitting against the Tigers? Here are the best MLB player props for Tuesday, August 11th.

Eury Perez 8+ Strikeouts (+185)

It's been an up-and-down season for Eury Perez. He enters tonight's game with a 5-9 record, but he's also struck out 121 batters in 109.2 innings, and he has allowed two or fewer earned runs in eight of his last 10 appearances. In his last start, he went only five innings and allowed four earned runs, but he also struck out nine Braves.

What makes Perez's most recent performance even more impressive is that the Braves don't strike out much. They have the eighth-fewest in the league, while the Pirates enter tonight with the most in the Majors.

While this total is set at 6.5, I'm taking Perez to strike out eight or more batters at a great price because he has at least eight strikeouts in four of his last eight starts. And though he doesn't have much experience against the Pirates, one-third of the Pirates he has faced have struck out.

Dylan Cease Under 7.5 Strikeouts (+113)

Betting against Dylan Cease this season hasn't been very productive. He has a 2.28 ERA, a WHIP of 1.04 and he's struck out 184 batters in 126.1 innings. And yet, I think there is a lot of value in taking his under tonight.

In his last start, Cease struck out 10 Cubs. However, he actually has seven strikeouts in two of his last four starts. And with him striking out 12 Red Sox the last time he faced Boston, I believe the price for his over is greatly inflated tonight.

You may see 12 strikeouts against the Red Sox and think I'm crazy to take Cease's under against the same lineup. But in that start, Cease pitched a complete game, something he hasn't done at any other point this season. And Cease also has two other starts against the Red Sox this season. He struck out seven or fewer batters in both games. Finally, while Cease may seem to have the upper hand here, the Red Sox have struck out the ninth-fewest times in the league.

Steven Kwan 2+ Hits (+206)

Steven Kwan is hitting just .265 this season, but he's been red-hot of late. He's hit safely in nine consecutive games and in 15 of his last 16. During that 16-game stretch, Kwan had seven multi-hit games. He also has six hits in his last three games.

While taking the over on his total bases prop may seem like a safer bet, especially with the price listed at +137, the only way Kwan records at least two total bases is if he gets two hits. He has just four extra-base hits in his last 16 games, and he hasn't hit a double in his last seven games.

Kwan has very little experience against Tigers starter Drew Anderson, but he is 2-for-3 against him in his career. Both of those hits were singles. Anderson won't pitch very long in this game, but Kwan will get at least one at-bat against him, and I expect him to have a hit under his belt as he takes on whoever replaces Anderson.
