Nestor Cortes: o/u 4.5 Strikeouts

Nestor Cortes finished the season 12-4 with an ERA of 2.44 and 163 strikeouts. His 163 strikeouts were second most on the Yankees, only behind Gerrit Cole.

The Cleveland Guardians’ offense has struggled against left-handed pitching in 2022 and has relied solely on the homerun ball this postseason. The Guardians scored four runs in three postseason games, and all four came from the long ball.

During this postseason, the Guardians’ offense struck out 35 times, second most only behind the San Diego Padres.

The Pick: o4.5 Strikeout (+116 Fanduel)

Luis Castillo: o/u 17.5 Outs & o/u 4.5 Hits Allowed

Luis Castillo has been a terrific pickup for the Seattle Mariners. In 11 starts after being traded to Seattle, he went 4-2 with a 3.17 ERA and 77 strikeouts and pitched an absolute gem in the Wild Card Round. Against the Blue Jays, he pitched 6.1 innings of shutout baseball while striking out five.

Tonight he battles against a more experienced team, the Houston Astros. After their walk-off win on Tuesday, I believe the Astros will be more relaxed and confident tonight, which does not bode well for Casillo and the Mariners.

Despite success against some of the better teams in the league, I think he will be on a short leash tonight due to the Mariners’ situation. I find it hard to see Scott Servais allowing Luis Castillo to go a full six innings unless he is near perfect.

The Picks: u17.5 Outs (-130 DraftKings) & o4.5 Hits Allowed (-130 DraftKings)

Myles Straw: u0.5 Total Bases

After a hot start to the 2022 season, it quickly fizzled out. In April, Straw was batting .291 and looked like a noise piece at the bottom of Cleveland’s lineup. In May, he batted .178, then followed that by hitting .149 in June and has never recovered since.

Things don’t look promising tonight for the Guardians center fielder as he faces Nestor Cortes, who has the upper hand in this matchup. In a small sample size, straw is 0-8 in his career against Cortes.

The Pick: u0.5 Total Bases (+120 DraftKings)

Kyle Tucker: o\u 0.5 RBI

Kyle Tucker has the advantage of hitting in the middle of the Astros lineup. Guys in front of him often get on base, providing numerous opportunities to bring a guy home.

Tucker led the team in RBI with 107 and was second in HRs with 30. With guys like Jose Altuve and Alex Bregman with a ton of playoff experience and success, hitting in front of him is extremely valuable.

The Pick: o0.5 (+180 DraftKings)
