Nestor Cortes: o/u 3.5 Hits Allowed

Nestor Cortes finished the season 12-4 with an ERA of 2.44 and 163 strikeouts. His 163 strikeouts were second most on the Yankees, only behind Gerrit Cole.

In the first few postseason games, the Guardians’ offense struggled and relied solely on the long ball. Over the last three games, the Guardians have come to life and have outhit the Yankees 30-15.

In Cortes’ first outing against Cleveland this series, he allowed six hits in five innings.

The Pick: o3.5 Hits Allowed (-115 DraftKings)

Yu Darvish: o/u 5.5 Strikeouts

Yu Darvish has been outstanding this year for the Padres, but he’s been even better at home. At home, Darvis is 7-3 with a 2.60 ERA, while opponents are batting a lousy .188.

In October, the Phillies struggled against RHP. They have the 10th highest K-rate and rank 16th in on-base percentage.

While the Phillies’ offense is hot, Darvish has had the upper hand against some of the Phillies’ hitters in his career.

Guys like Harper, Castellanos, Hoskins, Bohm, Realmuto, and Schwarber are hitting under .235 against Darvish.

The Pick: o5.5 Strikeouts (-105 DraftKings)

Myles Straw: u0.5 Hits

After a hot start to the 2022 season, it quickly fizzled out. In April, Straw was batting .291 and looked like a noise piece at the bottom of Cleveland’s lineup. In May, he batted .178, then followed that by hitting .149 in June and has never recovered since.

Things don’t look promising tonight for the Guardians center fielder as he faces Nestor Cortes, who has the upper hand in this matchup. In a small sample size, straw is 0-10 in his career against Cortes.

The Picks: u0.5 Hits (+105 DraftKings)

Jose Ramirez: o/u Total Bases

If it weren’t for Aaron Judge’s historic season, Ramirez would get serious consideration for this year’s A.L. MVP Award. He finished the 2022 campaign with a .280 batting average with 28 home runs and 126 RBI.

Ramirez has continued his success into the postseason, hitting .333 with two doubles, one home run, and three RBI. Despite being 0-10 against Cortes in his career, Jose is too good of a hitter not to have an impact in game 5.

The Pick: o1.5 Total Bases (+140 DraftKings)
