MLB Same Game Parlay Odds & Picks for Saturday, August 13 (2022)

We have a few of the game’s best pitchers on the mound today. One of them is a former back-to-back Cy Young winner, and although he’s coming in late this year, he’s proving early that he’s still on top of his game. We have another one that was a one-time favorite to take home the reward, but he has struggled and is starting to lose ground in the race. He will definitely need an impressive outing today to get back in the conversation.

Philadelphia Phillies vs. New York Mets

  • Leg 1: Mets ML (-196)
  • Leg 2: Jacob deGrom over 8.5 strikeouts (-144)
  • Leg 3: Aaron Nola under 6.5 strikeouts (-158)
  • Leg 4: Pete Alonso to record 2+ total bases (+135)

Jacob deGrom has been incredible to start his season with two great outings against the Nationals and the Braves. He should be in line for another effective outing as he has an impressive history against this Phillies lineup as they’re batting .155 with a 35.5% strikeouts rate against him in 109 plate appearances.

Aaron Nola has been a mainstay of this Phillies pitching staff for a long time and comes with consistency every year. He’s one of the top strikeout pitchers in the game, and his 157 this season are third in the league. Nola has been solid against the Mets with a 3.91 ERA in three starts, but he’s 0-2 with the team losing all three starts.

Backed by deGrom, the Mets should be able to come away against Nola.

Baltimore Orioles vs. Tampa Bay Rays

  • Leg 1: Orioles ML (+158)
  • Leg 2: Over 7 (+104)
  • Leg 3: Under 0.5 runs scored in the first inning (-162)

Shane McClanahan has had a couple of rough starts, and while he was one of the favorites in the Cy Young, he recently fell in the odds. He’s allowed nine earned in the 10.2 innings, has not made out easy on himself by getting in pressure situations, and is now giving up the big hits. His last quality start was against the Orioles, allowing two earned in seven innings, but a late rally ended with an O’s win and a no-decision for McClanahan

Nobody believed the Orioles would be in this position as they’re 23-9 since July 3, and beating the Rays yesterday gives them a 0.5-game lead for the final Wild Card spot. The offense has done well as they’re eighth in batting average (.260) and sixth in wRC+ (112) in that same span, along with the pitcher staff, whose 3.68 ERA is tenth.

Even with a rookie pitcher making his debut, DL Hall will be facing a Tampa Bay offense whose .208 AVG is the third-lowest this month.

San Diego Padres vs. Washington Nationals

  • Leg 1: Padres -1.5 (-176)
  • Leg 2: Over 9 (-104)
  • Leg 3: Yu Darvish under 6.5 strikeouts (-144)
  • Leg 4: Juan Soto to record 2+ total bases (-115)

It’s been a downright disastrous second stint for Anibal Sanchez. He’s been knocked around in five starts this season with a 7.56 ERA, 1.56 WHIP, and opposing hitters batting .286. His movement on his pitches is some of the lowest in his career, and he’s been getting hit hard with eight home runs in just 25 innings this season.

Yu Darvish is having a much better 2022 after struggling last year with San Diego. He’s been on a really good run in his previous few starts going 3-1 with a 2.70 ERA.

The pitching matchup will heavily favor the Padres lineup, plus they already had a big offensive day on Friday with former Nat Juan Soto coming home and having a good game.
