MLB Same Game Parlay Odds & Picks for Saturday, August 6 (2022)

We have some of the game’s best hurlers on the mound against some favorable matchups, and it’s a great opportunity to back them. Also, we fade the league’s worse pitcher as he goes against a power-hitting lineup, and it should be another struggling start.

Tampa Bay Rays vs. Detroit Tigers

  • Leg 1: Rays -1.5 (-150)
  • Leg 2: Shane McClanahan over 7.5 strikeouts (+114)
  • Leg 3: Randy Arozarena to record 2+ total bases (+115)

Let’s get the Saturday slate going, as some of the best pitchers in the league are facing below-average lineups. Not only are these pitchers facing struggling lineups, but they’re also facing opposing pitchers that are coming into today on a rough stretch.

In his last start, we found out Shane McClanahan is actually human. His streak of 13 consecutive quality starts was broken as he allowed five runs against Cleveland. Cleveland has been one of the better hitting teams, but the Tigers have continually worse offenses this season. He’s already had one successful start against the Tigers, going seven and allowing just one earned.

The rookie Garrett Hill has struggled since coming up to Detroit. While his 5.88 ERA is not that good, it could be a lot worse, as his expected ERA is 7.21.

McClanahan will get a favorable matchup to rebound after his first bad start of the season.

San Fransisco Giants vs. Oakland Athletics

  • Leg 1: Giants -1.5 (-126)
  • Leg 2: Carlos Rodon over 8.5 strikeouts (+108)
  • Leg 3: Brandon Belt to record 2+ total bases (+125)

Many believed that Carlos Rondon would be traded during the deadline, but the Giants kept their ace. When you look beyond the surface numbers, he’s been incredible as he’s in the 90th percentile or above in xERA, xwOBA, and strikeout rate. The A’s have struggled all season, and Rodon’s strikeout abilities, which include the seven-highest strikeout rate (23.8%), should have the Oakland lineup walking away empty-handed.

It’s been a tough season for Adam Oller. He’s moved back and forth from Triple-A to Oakland, and the A’s have experimented with him from the rotation to the bullpen, and now he is back as a starter. His second stint has not been successful either, as he has a 5.74 ERA and 1.28 WHIP in three recent starts. He throws the cutter on most of his pitches, which is supposed to break in on the hands, but you see it run flat and over the plate, and that’s why batters have a .591 SLG.

Philadelphia Phillies vs. Washington Nationals

  • Leg 1: Phillies -1.5 (-128)
  • Leg 2: Over 9 (-104)
  • Leg 3: Jean Segura to record  2+ total bases (+100)
  • Leg 4: Kyle Shwarber to record an RBI (+125)

It continues to be a rough year for Patrick Corbin. Statistically, he’s the worse starting pitcher in baseball, with a league-high 6.57 ERA and 15 losses. His last start against Philadelphia was very short, going just 3.1 innings and allowing nine runs and two earned.

Ranger Suarez has been on the best stretch of the season, going 18 innings without allowing a run, and he’s starting to get his control together with just two walks in that time. His last start against the Nationals was solid, going 5.2 allowing three earned in the win.

Whatever is going on with Corbin will not be fixed in this start against the power-hitting Phillies lineup.
