MLB Same Game Parlay Odds & Picks: Friday (4/18)
The vast number of markets offered for baseball games makes putting money down on MLB same-game parlays (SGPs) exciting. However, I'd caution against the temptation to add additional legs in hopes of a massive payout. I like to think 'win' first and massive payout second.
Not that I don't want to win a lot of money, but with how the odds are stacked in favor of the house when it comes to parlays, I like to reduce risk where possible. So, let's check out a few SGPs with our top MLB picks and props for tonight's games.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Texas Rangers
- Leg #1: Yoshinobu Yamamoto Over 5.5 Strikeouts (-140)
- Leg #2: Jacob deGrom Under 6.5 Strikeouts (-150)
Yoshinobu Yamamoto has 28 strikeouts in four starts this season, with four, 10, five and nine. He's facing a Rangers team that doesn't strike out a lot, but they aren't hitting well right now either. So, I'm willing to bet he stays in the game long enough to get at least seven before they pull him.
As for Jacob deGrom, he only has 13 strikeouts to his name this season, with a high of six. If he gets back to his old self, I'd think about taking the over then. But with how he's pitched to date, the under is the only play.
A $100 wager will result in a $276 payday - your stake ($100) plus $176 in winnings.

San Diego Padres vs. Houston Astros
- Leg #1: Padres Moneyline (+136)
- Leg #2: Under 9.0 Runs (+100)
Part of me wants to get behind the Astros at home in this one since they have been playing better at home of late, and the Padres are going with a suspect pitcher to start the game. But I think both teams will pull their starters quickly tonight and let the bullpens go to work. Consequently, we'll have a low-scoring game, making the under a solid play.
With how both teams have been playing, I have to go with the Padres to win outright.
A $100 wager will result in a $430 payday - your stake ($100) plus $330 in winnings.

San Francisco Giants vs. Los Angeles Angels
- Leg #1: Giants Moneyline (-162)
- Leg #2: Under 8.0 Runs (-112)
I’m a little nervous about taking the under in this game, given the explosive potential for both lineups. But I'm banking on two solid pitchers having good games to keep the score relatively low.
Logan Webb (San Francisco) has a 2.63 ERA over four starts and gave up just four runs in his last three starts. Angels starter Tyler Anderson has a 2.87 ERA in three starts, but has given up just two runs in his previous two starts (a home run to Cleveland’s Kyle Manzardo).
Because of that potential and the quality of the pitching in this game, I don't feel comfortable betting the run line in this game. I could easily see the Giants winning by one, making the Angels’ run line a good play. But with how quiet the Los Angeles lineup has been the last four games (seven total runs), this game may not be close at all.
