MLB Same Game Parlay Odds, Picks & Predictions: Friday (7/12)

We have a full slate of MLB action on Friday night. This gives us plenty of opportunities to cook up some Same Game Parlays (SGPs).

Friday marks the beginning of the weekend before the All-Star break. That means some teams may try to play some reserves in the coming days to keep them fresh. I would advise confirming lineups if possible before finalizing any bets.

With that being said, here are three of my favorite MLB Same Game Parlays for Friday, July 12.

Friday's Best MLB Same Game Parlay Bets

    Oakland Athletics at Philadelphia Phillies

My first SGP for Friday's MLB slate is for the game between the Philadelphia Phillies and Oakland Athletics. I expect offense to be the order of the day when a pair of struggling southpaws face two teams who have hit left-handed pitchers very well.

In the past month, Oakland is second in baseball with a 181 wRC+ versus left-handed pitching. Meanwhile, Philadelphia boasts some of the game's best hitters against lefties. There are 29 qualified hitters in the Majors with a wRC+ of 160 or better against left-handers. The Phillies have four of them so I am taking the Over on nine total runs.

Though usually viewed as more of an on-base threat, Kyle Schwarber is hitting .339 versus left-handers so far this year. In his lone head-to-head matchup with Harris, Schwarber went 3-for-3. I went the safe route by picking Schwarber to record just one hit, but you could certainly play a total base prop or run-scored prop as well.

I am taking Trea Turner to register at least two total bases. Turner has recorded multiple hits in six of eight games against left-handed starters since returning from the Injured List last month. He is also slugging .548 against left-handed fastballs and .545 versus left-handed breaking pitches this year. These pitches make up roughly 82% of Hogan Harris's arsenal against right-handed hitters.

Ranger Suarez is heading to the All-Star game as one of the National League's best starting pitchers. However, he is not entering Friday's matchup in good form. Suarez has allowed 15 runs over his last three starts. He has also given up six or more hits in six consecutive starts. Oakland is hitting .299 collectively versus left-handed pitchers in the last 30 days.

Suarez may also have to pitch a bit deeper in this game than normal, considering the Phillies have used their top three relievers in back-to-back games. Either way, I expect Suarez to allow at least five hits on Friday.

My last leg to push this SGP over the +400 threshold is for Harris to walk at least one hitter. Harris has walked 14 batters in seven starts, allowing at least one free pass in all seven. The Phillies have the fourth-highest walk rate against left-handed pitching this season.

    Texas Rangers at Houston Astros

For our next SGP, we are taking advantage of FanDuel's 30-percent Friday SGP boost with the AL West matchup between the Houston Astros and Texas Rangers.

Hunter Brown will be on the bump for the Astros. Brown has been inconsistent this season, but not in the strikeout department. Brown has struck out at least five hitters in eight straight starts and 12 of his last 13. This feels like a reasonable bar for Brown to clear on Friday.

Having said that, Marcus Semien has had Brown's number in their previous meetings. Semien enters Friday's game with eight hits in 13 career at-bats against Brown. He is also starting to come around at the plate in recent days. The Rangers second baseman has cleared this number in four of his last five games. I anticipate Semien keeping his recent hot streak alive against a pitcher he has owned historically.

The last leg of this SGP is for Andrew Heaney to go Under his 4.5-strikeout number. Heaney's strikeout totals have been up and down of late. But he has struggled mightily versus Houston hitters throughout his career.

The hitters who are most likely to make up Friday's lineup for Houston are hitting a combined .313 versus Heaney. The left-hander has not been able to put away Astros hitters in their previous meetings. Heaney has struck out just 22 batters in 161 total plate appearances against Houston. That comes out to a very low 13.7-percent strikeout rate.

Even if slugger Yordan Alvarez misses another game due to his nagging hip injury, I believe Heaney will be hard-pressed to rack up a handful of strikeouts on Friday night.

Minnesota Twins at San Francisco Giants

For our final SGP of the evening, we go West for the game between the San Francisco Giants and the Minnesota Twins.

Kyle Harrison is on the mound for San Francisco. He is making his second start since returning from the Injured List. Minnesota will counter with Joe Ryan, who is having another solid season.

The Twins have destroyed left-handed pitching over the past month. I like them to get the jump on Harrison and score two runs before the Giants can. This is a leg that I have only seen at Caesars. If you do not have access, I think taking Minnesota on either the full-game Money Line or F5 Money Line is a logical pivot.

Next, I am taking Manuel Margot to score a run. Margot is Minnesota's leadoff hitter against left-handed starters. Over the past month, Minnesota has faced six southpaw starters. In those six games, Margot has reached base 14 times and scored 10 runs. He also profiles well against Harrison's pitch mix.

Harrison throws either a four-seam fastball or changeup 85 percent of the time when facing a right-handed hitter. Margot has an expected wOBA of .486 against left-handed fastballs and .378 versus offspeed pitches from lefties. For reference, Marcell Ozuna has an xwOBA of .495 on fastballs and .372 on offspeed pitches from left-handed pitchers.

Finally, I like Carlos Correa to record at least two total bases in this game. You can substitute him with virtually any other player in this game if you prefer, but I will trust the veteran shortstop.

Correa enters Friday riding a 12-game hitting streak. During that stretch, he has recorded multiple total bases in 8-of-12 games. He is also slugging .600 versus left-handed pitching this season. In the last six games in which Minnesota faced a lefty starter, Correa has 13 hits and 23 total bases.
